Serious Digestive/Bathroom Issues..Warning TMI

I am about a year and half out. I haven't had a fill or seen a doctor in over a year due to moving, not finding a new doctor, etc. I have continued to lose weight (although not at the rate I could have, I'm sure) and everything has been fine up until a few weeks ago. Now, whenever I eat I get stomach pains, gas, bloating and excessive diarrhea. I've had the diarrhea for about two weeks consistently. My stomach makes horrible noises that are actually somewhat embarassing. I am wondering if this is band related or if there is something else going on. Anyone else experience these issues? I know that smart thing to do is to see a doctor, but I've recently just changed jobs and don't have insurance coverage yet. Any ideas or advice you can give is greatly appreciated as this is becoming quite exhausting.....

The band itself is above your main digestive tract and diarrhoea originates below it, so the chances of it being directly band-related are slim. (But I am not a doc!!)

Two weeks of diarrhoea is not acceptable - something is wrong. I don't know the US system but surely there must be someone professional you can see even if not insured?

Meanwhile, are you staying hydrated? Taking those rehydration salts you can buy OTC?

Hope you feel better soon.

Amber,

Sorry to hear you are having troubles, but if I were you, I would get into your Doc. I have a girlfriend with the exact same symptoms, and turns out she had a slipped band. Who would have thought. Besides, you are due to follow up with your Dr. if it's been a year. After care is so important when you are a band patient and it's for the rest of your life. Be safe, and just to be sure, get it checked out. Better it be nothing, but it could be something, Good Luck, girl!

I was just to my Bariatric clinic and reported some of the same issues.  They recommended that I take a probiatic (I got mine at the local viatmin shop - in the refrigerated section).  The reason was that many times during the stress, the bacteria starts attacking itself, so the probiotic helps return the good bacteria to your system.  I have noticed a dramatic improvement since I started on them.

Thanks for the advice ladies!!!  I did read that it could be an overgrowth of bacteria... didn't know it was due to stress... but that surely makes a lot of sense. I actually started on a probiotic yesterday, didn't know which one to buy so just picked up something at Walmart. I may have to do some more research and make sure I'm taking a quality supplement.

Thanks again...
