My husband, as wonderful as he is, initially was not very happy about my decision the have this surgery.  Do I need to mention he has always been thin?  He just kept saying "but you have lost weight before, just do ------ " (are we allowed to post the names of diets we tried?)  6 months into it, he has come around.  I am trying to get him up to speed on the post op diet restrictions/needs.  I have reviewed all the info with him.  The psychologist recommended him going to a support group.  Again, our kids are 5,4 & 1, and we both work full time.  So I was wondering, is there and on line spousal group?

I would recommend buying Jean M.'s book called "Bandwagon".  It's an encyclopedia of information on all things related to living with a gastric band.  You could identify chapters that you would like him to read so you are aligned as a team because it does take family support to be successful, especially if you are the primary cook and grocery shopper.  Everyone has to adjust a bit when your diet changes so dramactically.  There are also physiological things that will seem strange and worrysome, like getting stuck, pb'ing (regurgitation), soft stops that cause eye watering, burping, etc.

You can order it by clicking on the Ad at the top of your OH page or directly through Jean by going to [email protected].  Also, subscribe to her bi-weekly newsletter on the same site.  It's free and really awesome!
