I finally got approved and my surgery is scheduled for April 21, is it normal to get nervous and have second thoughts? Having band over bypass...

It is totally normal to second guess everything at crunch time !  You are flooded with emotions and it can be very overwhelming. Hang in there.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going back and forth with myself over this. I have a stretched stoma and I'm never getting full. I was told by my older sister today that she was getting a life insurance policy on me because the surgery was unnecessary. (what kind of thing is that to say) Needless to say that made it even worse!

You bet... I work so hard to get my surgery, had to self pay I was so nervous on the way. By far the best thing I have ever done. Lost 155 pounds in 1 1/2 years. With so much support from my family.
Good Luck you doing the right thing....
It's your day...you desire to take CARE of you for a change.....Laureen

I would worry more if you weren't nervous! I think we all had the butterflys. I have not lost all of my weight yet, but I love my band. I truly feel it will get me to goal. I have a vey slow metobolism, alot of medications and other things. But I am losing and feeling so much healthier! Good Luck...

Absolutely normal to be nervous.  It's a big step and it would be strange not to worry and second guess.  You are taking a good step towards a healthy future.  Relax and enjoy the journey.

Hello,

I was in your same shoes 2 weeks ago! I got  a lot of  support and suggestions from people in this forum.  Yes, its very normal to feel anxious and have second thoughts about what surgery to have .  Like I was told,  "choose the surgery that you believe fits your lifestyle".  I was banded on 3/21/11 and I have lost 13lbs!  I actually feel really good.  I just know that I must follow the food measurements, guidelines, and exercise in order to achieve my goal.  I wish you the very best.

Everyone on here has been great! I think I made my mistake when I started listening to people who has never had wls or a weight problem. I had the bypass in 2003 and I lost really well, I was wearing a 4. Gradually I picked up 65lbs and im aprox 45lbs from my pre bypass weight. I just want to do something about it before it gets more out of hand. I think the band is the better tool for me the second time around. I wish u much success in you wl journey!!

Hey, I'm getting banded 4/21 too! You're not alone, LITERALLY! It's ok to have cold feet, I personally haven't felt too much of it yet, but I'm sure once I'm laying on the stretcher I'll be full of nothing but nerves!
