I'm new here! I was banded on March 11th 2011 I lost 27 pounds on the pre op diet. So far I'm just doing the post op diet and chilling out. I've cut myself down to 1200 calories and I've been excising 30 minutes a day. I hope to see some results soon.

I need to loose a bunch of weight, can anyone give me some tips? Especially what it's going to be like for the first few months?

Welcome ,

It sounds like you're already doing amazing!  This is your healing time so it's great that your chilling out, exercising and paying attention to what you are eating.  As you progress and get fills you will find that foods you could tolerate prior to the fills you can no longer eat (or at least not eat as much).  Remember to eat slowly, take small bites and chew very well.  Please try really hard to keep up with the exercise!  My weight came off within 2 yrs and I have maintained my weight for many yrs now.  Just this week I decided to modify my goal and I'm finally ready to see if I can get down in the 140's.  Not sure what it will feel like to be that low after being in the 150's but that's whats so great about the band!  Here I am many yrs in deciding to lose another 10lbs and I know I can!!  Good luck and please ask as many questions as you need to everyone here is so helpful!!!  Karianne

Thanks Karianne.

I am definitely going to stick to my exercise. As much as I hate it I know I need to do it. Can I ask how much you were loosing monthly? I'm trying to get an idea of how long it will take me to drop 150 pounds...

My best advice is to log your foods and your activities daily. Seeing what you are eating and doing helps you see the progress you are making. Every time you put on a shirt or a pair of pants and they are big on you it encourages you to keep going.
