Pills crushed forever? Capsules? 3 days and no wegiht loss
I never crushed my pills either. I have never had any problems with swallowing my meds. I do have problems with my multi-vitamins but not because I can't swallow them...they upset my stomach. I had the same problem with my prenatal vitamins years and years ago.
I should warn you be very careful with big pills especially in the beginning when you are still learning what you can or can't swallow. I have heard of people getting stuck on pills.

Did you expect to lose more than 10lbs in under 2 weeks? The bandster average is 1-2lbs a week! You are way above average and if you lose nothing for the next 2 weeks, you are still ahead! Well done!!
There is no rhyme nor reason as far as pills are concerned! Some of us can always take pills; some of us can't.
But this is a copy of a post I made some time ago. it sparked a lot of replies and a lot of vets were saying the same as me! I should say I am not in anyway tight, I can eat all foods, I rarely get stuck and if I do it is always my own fault for eating too fast. But........
Beware pills! At first, many of us have no problem at all. My doc told me to take my bp meds a couple of hours post-op and the meds he sent me home with were all in tab form. For a long time (and I am talking well over a year here, can't remember exactly), despite having excellent restriction, I could swallow all but the most enormous pills and those went down OK as long as I cut them in half.
Then one day,I took my tiny bp capsule. Ten minutes later, waves of nasty taste started coming up into my mouth. Clearly it was dissolving above the stoma. Next day. I took another, thinking it was just a fluke the previous day. And this one hurt! Not excrutiating, but nasty enough.
There was no reason for the change. I had not had a recent fill; was no tighter than usual; it was the same sized pill as always. It took me totally by surprise.
Some time later (many months), I was away from home and needed a painkiller. I didn't have any spoons or anything to crush the tab but DH had a penknife and so we managed to cut it into four pieces. They still did not go down; despite being tiny.
My message: cut, crush, dissolve! Get everything in chewable, dispersible, soluble form. So far, I have not needed anything which could not be dealt with like that. If I ever need anything which is slow release, I may have a problem.
My case was just a bit painful. Other bandsters have had much worse experiences - some of them may join in on this thread. JeanM ended up in ER. The problem being that the environment above the band is less acidic than the main stomach and if pills designed to dissolve in an acid environment dissolve above the band (we may not realise this is happening) they can cause damage.
Some people have no problems at all - but the purpose of this thread is to say, don't assume! Just because there is no problem today does not mean there may not be tomorrow!
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Since recently returning to this site, it has been wonderful to see that not only am I not alone with my issues and the band, but that there is so much support I have missed.
With regards to pills, I now know that I had been too tight in the past and expected more of my band than of myself. In the past, I had to crush everything, which could get really nasty tasting. Stayed away from capsules unless the were hard and could be crushed.
Since having .7cc's removed last spring though, I can simply use a knife to cut everything into tiny pieces just to play it safe. Then, I can drink water, milk or my favorite - coffee to get the meds down. I like a warm beverage simply because I feel it may speed up the dissolvment.
You can ask about liquid forms of meds but it can become costly.
Great job on the weight loss!
