Bandster Hell - I'm there!!!!

Hey All,
I had shared my frustration with you all regarding my 5lb weight gain, and you were all so good to explain how this is normal in the first 6 wks out and once I get a fill things will change.  I need to vent a bit so I hope you don't mind.

Are any of you familiar with the Enneagram?  It is a tool to test various personality types.  Many companies use it to help with group dynamics and such.  Anyway, on the enneagram, I am a "3."   Being this type, failure is not an option, and we tend to define failure in sometimes the smallest ways.  If you'd like to take an online version of the test, go to http://www.9types.com/newtest/index.php

So, of course, I'm having accepting this weight gain.  After looking at everything I've been doing, I decided to call my surgeon and move my appt up a few days in hopes to get my first fill.  I also decided to bump up the exercise (don't worry, I didn't go near that darn elliptical).  As of this morning, I gained ANOTHER POUND...

I'm not regretting getting my band.  I'm just so frustrated right now.  Sorry if I sound like a complainer.  Just needed to get this off my chest.

Thanks for taking the time to read my whining.  In the short time I have been a part of this board, I can see clearly that this is a family.  We don't always get along or think the same way, but we're all in the same boat.

I wish you all a blessed day!

I'm 7 weeks out and got my 1st fill this past Wednesday.  I had gained almost 10 lbs in 2 weeks.  I was following everything to the T and walking every day for 40 min.  Talk about sad and discouraged!!!!  Went to the dr. and he didn't really have any rhyme or reason why I had gained weight but told me my bp was slightly high.  I had stopped taking my bpm 2 1/2 weeks before due to it being too low and I was dizzy all the time.  Went into my regular dr. on Thursday and she put me back on 1/2 of my bpm (water pill).  I have lost 11 pounds in 3 days now.  So your weight gain could be water weight or maybe you are starting to build muscle.  Believe me been there and so upset!  Hope you turn around soon and the weight continues to drop!

Hi Barbara - I totally feel your pain! I thought I had gained or maintained this week but when I went to my MD I weighed 2 pounds less than last time.  I was in such disbelief because my scale said something different that he then weighed me on the 3 other scales in his office. Sure enough - two pounds down

Sometimes I think the scale is the enemy in the war of weight and my true ally is my measuring tape! Armed with that, I see visible changes.  That and my new size 18 jeans are getting looser even after a good run through the dryer.

I don't think you should beat yourself up about your one pound.  We lucky women bloat, retain water and have a way of mysteriously gaining five pounds overnight even if we have been on a starvation diet for two weeks.  It's baffling to me!

Hang in there!!!

Joni

PS thanks for the test link - I took it and am a Type 7 - Generalist - the enthusiastic productive type! LOL

Check the sodium amount in what you are eating and drinking.  You will have periods of time where you will not lose like you think you should.  I am 10 months out and stuck at a 50lb loss, and gained 3lbs in the last 2 days.  Which to is also common.  Remember your proteins, you are probably in the soft food stage, and yes if you do not get enough protein you will not lose.  You may also want to schedule a visit with your nutrionist and take with you your food journal so he or she can take a look at it and tell you where the problem may be and what to do to change it.
