SO COMPLETELY OUTRAGED -- WHO THE HECK....
Opinions are like @zzHoles Everyone got one, some are positive and most are negative. The one thing I can remember my mother teaching me was " MISERY LOVES COMPANY " So most (Not All ) people who's bands have failed and for the most part because they didn't use it as the tool it's meant to be, are miserable and rotten and want nothing more than to manipulate their stories to scare others and put others down. I read all the post here and there are good points in every one. Like you said you found a way around the band, sadly there is a way around every surgery. I took close to 5 years researching and was due for complete bypass, but as my surgery date got close I decided for the Band, I lost 70 pounds on my own ( Educating myself helped ) Banded 3-08-11 down another 32 pounds in 3 weeks. I'm sorry that people are making you feel the way some have, I just want you to know there are alot of people out here who genuinely care and are here to support each other.Those who make it their mission to hunt the board and the internet trying to prove the band doesn't work, need to find a new hobby ( maybe take up eating ) instead of confusing those who are already nervous about making the step to WLS. Again mom always said "If You Can't Say Anything Nice? Then Don't Say Anything At All" I am thankful for all those that are supportive and helpful, especially you for admitting you made it so the band didn't work, I AM PROUD OF YOU for being honest and more PROUD that you are starting to do something about it and get it back under control. Well first of all John............the more you read on here and the longer you have your band..........you will find that to NOT be true! SOME ppl do not use it as a "tool it was meant to be. Most do try to "use it as the tool it was meant to be"! I would very much like your to tell me how I did not "use this as the tool it was meant to be"!!!
If it doesn't work..............IT'S NOT A TOOL! You tell me how you would fix a broken pipe with a BROKEN wrench?!
Now next lets address your other "Christian like" comment about being "miserable and rotten and want nothing more than to manipulate their stories to scare others and put others down".
Just how do I manipulate my story??? And I try to scare others? Well the band stats ARE scary! Some ppl have enough intelligence to want ACCURATE band info BEFORE their surgery and they are entitled to that!!! If you don't wish to hear what the band is really like...........then by all means DON'T read it!
And btw...........I think it is miserable and rotten to pretend to be Christian and talk about others like that! But of course I must be wrong about that too I'm sure!

I guess I missed the boat on the suggested lap-band reading you are referring to in your post. I read all the scientific data I could find before my surgery and picked the lap-band. I am very pleased with my results and can find nothing negative in my entire experience. I don't think I am in the minority here.

Don't think your in the minority? How long have you had your band??? You will find very few long term bandsters that will say how pleased they are with their results!
