No what you did Maria was mouth off yet again how the band dont work before you knew the FACTS of the whole story .

She came right out and admitted that she ate around the band, ate all the foods that you are suppose to eat in moderation  but once again you and your mouthy big red front couldn't wait for the facts.

Why dont you wait for the facts first before you start telling people the band dont work for everybody.

If I ate around the band all day also the band wouldn't work for me either so is it my fault or is it the bands fault ?

Hmm I think it would be my fault for NOT following the rules .

Like said know the facts before you start mouthing off to people.

~Why dont you wait for the facts first before you start telling people the band dont work for everybody.~

Because I tend to post from my experience just like most of the rest of the ppl do on this forum! When someone post about a band problem they tend to AUTOMATICALLY ASSume that it is the bandsters fault and start telling them what they need to do and what they're doing wrong!

I on the other hand tend to assume it's the band fault! So tell me why is it NOT a problem when others give bad advise to posters b/c they ASSume that THEY are at fault when in fact they are NOT?!?!?!

Yes..............this person now says she eats around the band. But has she ever had restriction?!?!?! If not then is it really her fault??? She is saying that she eats around the band, but if you have true restriction are you really able to eat a 6" sub??? I understand ppl eating around the band with slider food............but a 6" sub with restriction just doesn't sound right does it?????????????

Now say for example that she IS eating around the band. Well if she cant control her eating with the band then don't you think she needs a WLS with malabsorption?!?!?!

Why would I want to do what some of the others do on here and keep telling ppl to do the same thing they  have been doing that doesn't work?!

Maria, I hope you don't mind me jumping in our your discussion with Steelerfan, because I actually agree with you on part of what you have to say.

First, I have to say that even with *great* restriction, I was able to eat just able anything that I chose too.  It's all about *how*, not *what*.  If I follow the band rules, then no, I can't eat a 6" sub.  But, if I sip liquids while I eat, and take more than 20" or so to eat, then sure, I could down that sub, even with "good" restriction.  (Although, I generally would take off part of the bread, because even when I was totally off track, I knew I didn't need that much bread!)

But, on another point, I totally agree with you.  If what you are doing doesn't work, then don't do that!  I don't care what method of surgery you choose, you can't do the "same things" and get different results.  If something is not working, then try something different.  That doesn't necessarily mean a new surgery, however.

Im fairly new to OH and since I have been on here all of your replies to other ppl post have been sort of rude. I know you don't like your band. So why don't you get a revision that will suit you. Maybe you won't be so unhappy with your band, because you don't have it anymore. Maybe you won't be rude and inconsiderate to others that have the band. Now if you have had a revision to something else (i dnt know if you have)  and you are still acting like this about the band. Then you need some serious help, because you must not be happy with yourself. You are probably a really good person and all. But sometimes on this forum you don't show it, even when you are trying to say your sorry about a reply you did make. Thats just my opinion...
Good Luck to you...

@Katie, I haven't had my band yet, but I understand your struggle with eating. Its just a FORK in the road. You will get it together and Im glad you did that post because thats what OH is for.

I don't get a revision b/c after wasting  $15,000 on the band I can no longer afford to pay for a revision!

Yes some of my comments are rude and inconsiderate. You also need to take into account the rude and inconsiderate comments that I have received just prior to that.

I do stand by my comment that I made about her band not working if she is 3 1/2 yrs. out and still weights 300 lbs. though! That was NOT an insult! That is just a fact. If she has had it that long and it's not working (either b/c of the band/her/or a combination of the 2)..................then she NEEDS to do something DIFFERENT! I am however sorry that she was hurt by the comment b/c it was NEVER intended as making fun of her weight!!!

Maria,

Sometimes, a lot of times, people's bands don't work because they have unrealistic expectations of what they THINK the band is suppose to do and/or don't awknowledge that they may have an unhealthy if not possibly an addiction to food. Then there are several other possible other reasons to. It's very disturbing that you constantly have to blame the band almost IMMEDIATELY if anyone posts any type of problem they may be having. We all understand that you don't like your band, you have regrets with your band, and you have issues with misinformation about how "great" the band is suppose to be being willy nilly handed out to people that don't actually do their homework & educate themselves about the reality of the band. But your distain for the band is coming across as a very negative, obtrusive, annoying attitude in all your posts. With that much, and I feel awful for having to say this but, hatred for the band & the position you personal are having with it you need to seek professional counseling instead of continuing these posts. I'm sure you are a very, VERY kind considerate person & would never intentional hurt anyone's feelings. Your post however, because of your own personal view, protray you otherwise.

The band won't work for everyone

The RNY won't work for everyone

The sleeve won't work for everyone

The switch won't work for everyone

That's because the surgeries aren't meant to work FOR us... but for us to use their assistance & us work them.

I'm truly sorry you have had all the problems you have had. I really truly am. But your projecting your personal experience & personal opinion & not giving any of the original posters posts you've commented to any untainted advice to HELP them find a path to solve their problem w/their doctor.

I think what is so outrageous about the original post is that she originally posted on port pain and YOU CALLED HER ON HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHE DID NOT LOSE IN THREE YEARS!!!  What the heck???? Should we call you on how much weight you lost or did not lose? What did your post have to do with being SUPPORTIVE of another lapbander let alone human???  Instead, you called her out and started your USUAL DRAMA!!!

I truly DO NOT believe that you want the best for her or any other bandster.  I think you only want to cause a ruckus, hurt peoples feelings and say neener neener.

Katie, I would be as outraged as you are if someone said the same thing to me.  Quite frankly I'm just plain outraged someone would be so bold as to spead that kind of insensitivity in what is supposed to be a safe place.

I think this forum is the only place in my entire life I've felt ok to be myself, without feeling like "the fat girl".  If this sort of behaviour is going to continue here, I'm not sure I'm comfortable continuing to participate in these forums.  As a professional moderator with experience in forums, it's difficult to control forums of this size.  But really, a moderator should step in if someone is that blatantly rude.

Mags it is very seldom that the moderators  step in b/c of rude remarks on here! I know from experience. MANY are directed at me!

The statement I made was not intended to be rude to her, but to point out to another poster that what the OP had been doing was NOT working and that she needed to make a valid suggestion to her on something that she thought might work instead of telling her to do the same old thing over and over.

Katie

I commend you for your honesty.  So very few people want to admit any fault...I'm not saying that everyone is always at fault.  I too ate what I shouldn't and ate more than the Band diet required.  Although after I got to a decent fill it was much easier to follow the rules but to be honest I should have been following them all along.  It was just so damn hard when your hungry all of the time.

The Band is a difficult thing to master...at least I thought so.  Some people (like myself) need a year or two before they can fully understand and dedicate themselves to the Band.

It was a very insensitive comment made at the wrong place and time.  There is a time to state your facts or opinions and there is a time to hold someone's hand and be there for them when they need a person to talk to.  Clearly it was not a time to give you a hard dose of opinion.

Good luck and sorry about your struggles..  I've been there.
