Hi Katie...I looked at your profile, since you didn't mention your weight in your post about port pain, you are one tall girl!  Your pain could be from many things...something as simple as straining the muscle the port is attached to something as major as an infection.  Bottom line, you need to call the doctor, to find out for sure.  I see that you have lost with the band, so we know it works for you and seeing your doc will get you back on track to lose the rest of your excess weight.

Please let us know what happens after you see the doctor...thinking good thoughts!

LOL -- yep -- I have height on my side - so when I tell people my weight -- they "say" they are surprised.  LOL.  THis week I actually told someone I was still trying to loose my babyfat -- they thought I was talking about after having a baby fat, but I was talking about my babyfat from when I was kid (joking of course), I am 44 -- I thought they were gonna pee in their pants!  HAHAHAHAH

Thanks for your words and support -- I will DEFINATELY post an update and be here more often to help those who are new learn from my mistakes.......I WILL WORK IT!!!!!

I'm sorry you were hurt, and understandably so.  Sometimes people post things on here to make a point, and don't think about the person behind the screen.  Honestly, I don't think Maria is a bad person, but she doesn't like the band, and looks for opportunities to drive her point home.

Why stay on a forum if you don't like it?  Maria nor anyone else is going to save anyone.  Get off the high horse and go join the group you truely believe in.  I guess she just needs attention. Some thrive off negative attention.   THank you for your feedback.

Katie I have a BAND! Just like you. So where do you suggest I go?! Why do you ppl think that I am NOT suppose to post on THIS forum??? The BAND forum is NOT just for those with happy band experiences. It is suppose to be for ALL bandsters!

And yes I have "saved" ppl. I get PM's on here and contacts elsewhere from ppl I have never even spoke with but have read about my band experience and read the band stats I  post and have thanked me for them avoiding "my train wreck"!

In addition to that I get numerous PM's from other bandsters that have bands not working and several have said they felt like they were the only ones. Others have told me about following the band forum and never posting b/c they see so many bandsters on here play "blame the victim"!

So if you want support............I am glad you feel comfortable to come to the band forum for it. Others do not. I have received very little "support" on this forum.............but I stay to SUPPORT others!

Support does not always mean being a cheerleader. Support sometimes means tough love, or saying something you don't want to hear.

You do not want my support and that is fine. However others do!

I have appologized to you and you have choosen not to accept it. That is fine as well. But I do not intend to let ppl like you........or some of the others on the band forum tell me that I can not post on this public forum!

Katie,

I saw Maria's response last night to your post and I, quite frankly, was offended by it.  She, even if she had your best interests at heart as she says, was both rude and hurtful.  She did not have enough information from your post, to make the decision your band wasn't working.  I hope you find out what is causing your port pain.  I still get port pain sometimes.  Mostly if I've banged that area against something or from some kind of exercise.  Take care

Maria,

With all due respect, I would ask that you be more careful in your comments.  I appreciate you are unhappy with your band and only want to prevent others from the same bad experience you have had, but even though you speak from experience, your experience does not make you an expert on the band.  For instance, I have only lost about 85 lbs. since being banded in Jan. 2009.  Like you, I am not at that mythical "sweet spot" after probably 20+ fills and 2 unfills.  But even though i see my surgeon at least every two months, I have chosen not to have a fill for the last six months.  I am on the loose side, but I have restriction and even though I'm not at the sweet spot, it gives me the help I need to keep my portions small.  I just too often dive into too many pints of ice cream.  My fault, not the bands.  I could have lost alot more weight by now if I made better choices, even without being at the sweet spot.  Look at you, you've lost more weight than me in a shorter amount of time.  You think your band has failed you, but I dont' feel that way at all.  Still, I believe you would consider that my band has failed me since I'm over two years without hitting the sweet spot.  I don't think one needs to be at the sweet spot to be a band success - that's where we differ.  I would be offended if you suggested to me that I should consider a revision - you don't know me, don't know how I live with my band, so you don't know if my journey is a success or a failure, but because you're experience is tainted, you suspect the worse for everyone.  That's unfortunate and it tends to make your comments harmful to many, the opposite of what I believe you are hoping for.  I truly believe you are motivated to help, but you don't realize how you often hurt instead.  I have seen positive posts from you as well, which is why I do believe you don't mean to hurt and I have seen many hurtful posts aimed at you and I don't mean for this to be.  I'm just trying to make you see that everyone sees both success and failure differently and I wish you could accept that.  I also wish you were not so unhappy with your band.  I often say I don't "love" my band, but I am so "in like" with it and I hope never to lose it.  Take care.

Hi Katie - I haven't been on here very long.  I learned very quickly that some people will tell you the band is a mistake and bound to fail.  I finally had some hope for a solution, went through almost a year of tests and education and had "someone" trying to knock the wind out of my sails. Ugh!

Please use the Block Button when you feel badgered.  I was a Block Button Virgin until that "someone" came along.  Poof!  Ahhh, that is so much better.
