I had to have my surgery three hours from my home. So, after convincing the doctor that my sleep apnea wouldnt kill me that night, I headed back to the hotel. I was scared and lonely at that momen****er was hard to consume, because I wasnt sure I could do it anymore. What if it was too tight? What if I chocked drinking something. I sat on the couch in our suite and just boo hooed. My husband lovingly brought me a glass of water and some tissue. After crying, blowing my nose, and drinking the glass of water my husband said... "I love you no matter what happens, and look... you met your first goal. You drank the whole 4 ounces of water and didnt choke to death."
I didnt choke to death. I actually did really well for a while. We had a test to know if food was okay for me to eat... if I had to do up and downs by the pool holding onto the fence poles... I was never allowed to eat that again. lol It was trial and error. I finally got down 50 pounds. So the lesson was... it is never as bad as it seems at the moment, and your family will laugh at you for years to come as you make your way to your new lifestyle.

I just had one of what I am sure will be many WOW moments...I am below 300 lbs for the first time in four years. Four Years! I stood on the scale for a good five minutes, staring at it in disbelief. I woke my husband and dragged him out to the living room to see. I shouted it to the rooftops that I am actually losing weight!
I'm actually below 300, and that is a f*cking beautiful feeling.

Theres so many! But a big one, no scratch that a huge one has to do with my job as a longshoreman. Being able to climb up a gangway, climb a ladder and drag gear around with the guys, keeping up with the guys, sometimes pass up the guys who do that everyday, and not be out of breath, priceless! And then not to be so sore afterwards that I need 2 days to recover, Awesome! In my 10 years on the waterfront I have never had the confidence to volunteer for that kind of work,I was always afraid that I was too fat to fit through some spaces or unable to keep up or that I would get hurt and , God forbid, some poor soul would have to try and get me down from the ship or worse they'd have to use the crane to get me down! Not any more! Thank you lapband!
