Overeating and pouch/esophagus dilation
Hi everyone, I have been searching the site for the answer to my question. If you are able to eat more than a 1/2 to 1 cup, does this mean that you have stretched your pouch? I have a fill tomorrow but have realized that I am eating too fast.
Could I just be feeling the results of eating to quick at times, or have I stretched the pouch and I'm able to eat quicker/more before feeling it?
Right now it feels like a blob sitting in my throat/upper chest...

I'd be willing to bet you're eating too fast. That first bite syndrome is tough. You're so hungry you take too big of a bite or eat too fast. I eat about a cup...depending on the food. and the key is to stop BEFORE you feel uncomfortable. It's hard sometimes. Tonight we went out for ds birthday ...I had about 4-5 pieces of delicious sushi and was satisfied. I gave the rest to my ds (who is thrilled by my inability to finish my food these days...more for him!). My brain really wanted to fini**** bandzilla said no thanks. lol

I always weigh out my 2-3 oz of meat and I have a 1/4c of a veggie or whole grain. I have no clue on how much I could eat. I don't want to take the chance of stretching my pouch/esophagus. A UGI would be one test that would show if you have stretched it.
That feeling could be from too big of a bite, or too fast or too dry of food. I have to add some sauce/salsa to my meat.

I was banded in Jan. I'm such a slow learner on the fast eating, bite thing. I get that tight bubble in the way back of my throat too. 1 cup is it for me, and sometimes less. But if I slow down and chew, chew, chew, I don't get that tight bubble that will sometimes last for almost an hour. I only occasionally get it right, but I'm a work in progress.
I love your shares today, Renee! You are so right on with how I am feeling. I was feeling really "full" and satisfied about 2 weeks ago and thought wow my band is really working, and when I went for my 2nd fill, doc said "you don't really need it you are losing steadily" but since then, I'm not losing - I'm going up & down between about 2 pounds - and I no longer have that full satiety for 3-4 hours that i was experiencing. So I guess that means it's time for a fill, huh? So, your stomach can make changes like that (ie: when it's ready for a fill) to the point where you can go from being full to hmmm I need a fill? Go****'s just so amazing to me...
