New here!
Hello Everyone,
I am new here. I am almost done with the pre op check list. I have one more weigh in April 19th, going to get my PCP letter tomorrow, and I meet with the excercise physiologist May 11th. I am not sure if I have to see him before surgery or not. I have not lost any weight through these past 5 months, I have gained a few, lost a few. But I have hung right around 165-170. I am afraid they are going to put off the surgery. But that would only be my fault, not theirs. I am going to start a high protien, low carb deal untill the surgery... hoping to lose a few. I am a RN and I know I need to lose a few pounds before it is time. I am starting to get nervous and wonder if I am educated enough to do this. I quit smoking 1 month ado, except for using my e-cigarette which is nicotine free, just for the hand to mouth action. I did gain a few pounds at my last weigh in, 2 weeks after quitting. I just thought I would pop in and say hi. I have always found message boards to be a great help. Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

165-170lbs??? Or is that kgs? Or a misprint????
But you are very welcome to the board! Ask us any specific Qs you may have!
Kate
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Welcome !!!! I would not worry so much about the pre op diet if it is for ins it is probably more of a formality than a lose this much weight thing. Mine was . I didn't lose a thing and also even gained a little. Congrats on quitting smoking that will help you alot as you know ! We all have had second guesses about this but if you know in your heart this is the path you are supposed to take hang in there and just keep doing what you are doing and knock out all those tests and before you know it you will be in bandland ! It is not so hard .There are a few rules to follow and there will still be challenges along the way but this is a wonderful tool to help you get healthy and have the life you wanna have.:) Good luck on your journey !
Welcome!! Kate has an eagle eye!!! LOL! I am a RN also so is Kristi. She will chime in here later I am sure. You will be fine. I quit smoking and gave up a 6 pack a day of 24oz bottles of Diet Dew all in one month , you can do it. If you start the high protein low carb diet you will lose. Better to start now you will be getting used to the changes.
Thanks Everyone. I just know how big of a change this is all going to be. Granted a change that needs to happen... but still. I have been heavy my entire life and want more then anything to be healthy. I have a 5,4 and 1 year old. I don't want them to be living their lives with out me. I look forward to getting to know you all.
