Hi Prek!

Yes, one is NEVER enough for me...I agree with you wholeheartedly.  I am an all-or-nothing girl and I truly feel this is 90% of the reason I am a success story.  I had to seek professional help 2 years ago when I had my revision (band-over-bypass) to figure out the "whys" of my obsessive food compulsions, so I could make the appropriate modifications to me behavior, not just have another anatomical revision, you know?  IT CHANGED MY LIFE!  I love reading other success stories from therapy with these issues.  I can't stress enough to pre-ops to get REAL therapy (not just the 1 hour required pre-op "evaluation", but multiple sessions with an expert in food issues).

Thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Lisa!
AMEN!!!!!! I keep telling "newbies", that the closer one gets to goal, your honeymoon is over, and then the hard work kicks in, and ya gotta tackle the brain. My counselor, use to be a wiegh****cher leader who would binge on the weekends. Luckily she recognized her problem, and has kept off her 100 pounds! Shes a food addiction specialist.

That book sounds really interesting.  Thanks for the recommendation.  I've been amazed at the way my food cravings have changed in just 5 weeks since surgery.  I used to hide sweets and goodies all over the house.  Now I really don't miss them and am craving protein and vegetables.  Healthy food?  Me?  OMG.  I think my brain is starting to realize that I COULD eat cake but those empty calories would have to replace a meal and I'm not willing to give up that meal to dessert only.  I am not perfect and have succombed to the occasion small piece of chocolate but for the most part it's been healthy all the way.  I don't even look when sailing past the cookies in the store!  We CAN do this and I wish you the very best of luck.  Karol

Kbagnell,
another good read is Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink.  They ask that we don't snack, or graze, and its with good reason. Good luck on your journey!
