BINGER with a BAND! Getting HONEST!

I hear 'ya! My crunchy thing is bbq chips. I've bought them a few times since being banded. For me they go down hard but I will still eat them a few at a time on a paper towel and keep reopening the bag a gazillion times to get more.  Obviously this is way better than preband, BUT it's still not good for me.

Hi beagles!
I have a newfound love of bell peppers! It addresses my need for the crunch! I take 2 or 3 small bell peppers and fill it with a laughing cow cheese that has chopped onion and cucumber in it! Absolutely delicious, and satisfies my need for crunch! Eating just one bell pepper absolutely satisfy me.

Also paying attention to my breathing when I know its not time to eat and its truely a head hunger issue. I always thought that was hogwash, but its not. Deep breathing relaxes me. If I eat something I am craving I notice I feel like I am not breathing, of course I am breathing, but its very shallow breaths. Deep breathing is helping me too.

OMG! My therapist just suggested this book to me and I started reading it. Laughing here because I'm sitting eating some yellow, orange & red peppers dipped in Greek yogurt mixed with veggie soup mix! Delicious! This book has truly been an eye opener and I'm not even that far into it!

Amen...I have found myself in the same trap and have to dig my way out then somehow the old habits wantta try to creap back in...ahhhh, so frustrating sometimes, but I guess we are human! I find myself at my weakest when I am exhausted after being on call (I am a hospice nurse so some nights are really long), and if I am not well prepared with a cooler or healthy snacks in the door of my van, that can start a binge for me...I will stop off at the convenience store for a snack, then that will lead to days of it until I realize what is going on. Addiction...it's tough stuff!

I learned from a WLS conference that when you are stressed, you should up your protein intake.
Also, when we eat late at night, its really that you are tired and are looking for food for energy. What we need to do is go to sleep! But I understand your your situation witht the work hours.

These are all great posts.  I'm glad you started the thread!  I'm going to check out that book as well.

My poison is salty - pretty much anything made by Frito-Lay - but primarily Frito's.  Chilli Cheese Frito's and a Diet Dr Pepper used to be my 3pm snack.  I found out months ago there was no such thing as buying the snack bag claiming I'll just eat a few and put it away for a week.  Nope... bag was gone almost before I got back upstairs from the break room.  And let me tell you?  A Chilli Cheese Frito tummy ache for a bandster is no fun at all!

Now I'm practicing Frito-abstinence!!!

Ambelina,
I had to laugh at your discription about the fritos! The end of over eating, talks about the role of "salt"  . here is  another good book, is called Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink. Knowledge is power!
