I started at 236lbs and no one seemed to notice until I was down about 40lbs or more, however after that it started showing much faster. 10 and 20lbs beyond the 40 made noticable differences and everyone started saying so. I'll bet within the next few weeks or month people will be coming out of the wood works to congratulate you on your amazing accomplishment.

People really didn't start noticing until I was 50-60 pounds down...

Also if you haven't a new outfit that fits you well to your new size it's hard to notice. I mean yes your pants are baggy and I'm sure it's noticeable but most people don't notice esp if you normally were your clothes not fitted.. and I know I wore all my clothes baggy.. so it was hard to tell..

Not until I have up my bigger pants and bought a few things that truely fit then people noticed.

I think some people just consider it rude to comment on someone's weight so they don't say anything at all.  I will agree with the others that it wasn't until I lost about 50 lbs that even I really noticed.  Up until that point people would ask me if I changed my hair!  It's like, "Hmmmm somthing is different about Lisa, now what is it?"  I'd say, "No, my hairs the same but I did lose 50 lbs.!"  I have been very open about my surgery since the very beginning.  That's just my personality and I thrive on praise so if I have to go asking for it, I will.

The most important thing is that you are happy with your progress.  People can be cluless about what is the right thing to say so instead they say nothing.  Eventually, your WL will become so dramatic your friends won't have a choice but to notice.  They still may not comment, but they'll notice!

Best~

I totally agree with the others...the people that see you all the time might not be noticing the day-to-day (or often it has to do with jealousy too).  But just wait, I bet when you run into someone at the market or gas station that hasn't seen you in a while they will definitely be noticing and commenting on how great you look!  For me, it was the start of my son's football season.  Nobody had seen me since the last season, everyone was so excited for me, giving me hugs and compliments and that was a great feeling!  You'll see...it will happen. :)

Lisa, that's what I am excited for! I have my surgery on 4/18 and football season starts up in August so that gives me a good 4 months to lose. I can't wait to be out there with the folks I haven't seen since last year... I hope I've shrunk enough to be noticed by then. LOL!

Ohhhh yeah you will for sure!!!  You can do some serious weight loss damage (the good kind lol) in 4 months.  Hearts for football.  I live for football season in ALL aspects. But we get hella rowdy at my son's games.  Yeah, I'm THAT mom.  LMAO  That's a great goal for ou to look forward to.  :)

At close to 600 lbs people started to notice once I was above the 50 lb mark. For someone of your size it is probably noticeable. Many times people notice but don't say anything because they are afraid of offending you by implying that you were heavy. Congrats on the loss. Keep up the great work!

Thanks to all of you for great responses!  I guess I am like the one person who would not mind a little praise from people who don't know I had the band-as most people have no clue what it even is!  (no I am not as open about it as I don't think everyone understand and I don;t want to have to defend myself!)

But I guess like you all said as long as I know thats what counts and damn it I AM proud of myself!!

It will happen eventually.. and I imagine some don;t want to make it seem like I was fat, but Hellooooo I AM fat!!!  LOL

The band may not be perfect, but it will be perfect for me!

I can actually speak as one who didn't notice. My work friend had WLS and I didn't notice til she had lost 60 lbs! I sat next to her once a month at staff meetings, but didn't even notice it. Yet I consider myself observant!! In the past I lost 50 lbs and people couldn't see it on me. It's just that some people see it and some don't. My friend said that was her typical experience. Most people don't really notice it that much, which is a bit mind boggling in a way. Anyway, great job on your weight loss!
