 Hi

Well my pain was less with the revision.  I woke up from surgery and got right up, walked, walked and walked.  Not everyone there was as "lucky" .  Never got sick or anything and after the 2nd day took very limited pain medication except for my flight home I took one pill before leaving Mexico and 1 pill halfway home.

I lost 115lbs in 2.5 years with my band, but once it was emptied and couldn't get fills due to my reactions to the bites I gained a lot very quickly.

Due find the threads by WASA as she really does know a lot about the Dr's in Mexico.  Her doctor is also my Dr.  There are cheaper doctors there but none who have done as many revisions.  I was doing my best to have the most qualified Dr so that when I returned home I didn't have any problems.  Also didn't want to go to TJ or Juarez.  Again, WASA will be able to have more information for you.

Good Luck

I didn't end up revising... but I did a lot of research. I was going to have Dr Aceves do my procedure. Yes there are cheaper surgeons.. but he has done A LOT of band to VSG revisions and has an excellent record. I felt 100% comfortable choosing him and had scheduled my revision. I ended up deciding to replace my port instead [my current surgeon agreed to do it under local to save cost for me]. Luckily I have had success since my port replacement.

I know Aceves is more expensive than other Mexico surgeons... but in my research... I felt the most comfortable with him. Removing a band and doing a revision is more complicated than operating on a virgin stomach. Choose someone with experience.

I am sorry about your complications. They sound difficult and frustrating. I hope you find a solution and/or surgeon that can help you. Best of luck!!
