Some questions about "goal"

So I'm about 20 lbs from where I had initially decided I wanted to be.  I picked 175 because that was the thinniest I have been in my adult life.  I am currently around 195, wearing a sz 14/16 and feel really very good.  I'm still losing about 3lbs a month and since the weather has been awful I haven't been exercising as much as I used to.  I'm starting to get asked when am I going to stop losing weight.  It's something I'm starting to think about.  I really do want to make it to goal...just because I never have before.  But at age 47, my skin is starting to really hang esp on my thighs and stomach and a bit on my neck and it ain't pretty :(  175 is still an overweight BMI for me, but I trully can't imagine being too much thinner than that...healthy would be 155 ( I am 5'6)

So where's everyone else on this especially those of us who are a little older whose skin may not be in the best spring chicken shape???

My goal was 165, for no real reason other than that was almost a normal BMI and it seemed possible.

But when i got there, I just kept going- and going - and going! I felt fabulous! US size 8 clothes, saw this slim lady in my mirror. Thought  people telling me to stop were being ridiculous.

Then DH took a video of me in the pool with my grandson. And for a moment, i genuinely did not know who that little old lady was!! I looked ill, gaunt and older than my real age (58 at the time!). So I deliberately put about 6-8lbs back on - and looked 10 years younger! So much better. And in fact, I have allowed my weight to go back up from its all time low of 139 to a comfort zone of around150. My body needs slighty bigger clothes but I look so much better.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I too have about 20 lbs to go.  My goal is 173, because that's what I weighed in high school when my mother told me I was too fat.  I was a 14 then, and with the vanity sizing in today's world, I think I will be closer to a 12.

The RN in my doctor's office said that it's not just about getting to a goal, but it's also about being able to maintain that goal.  If you don't think that you can maintain 175 without killing yourself, maybe it's time to reconsider your goal?  That's also an option.  I think for as much as you have lost and how far you've come, your doc wouldn't think that was a bad thing.

I'm not done, I want to know what it feels at 173, so I"m still going to go.  I may change my mind and regain a little when I get there, but we will see at the time.

I'm 38, and my skin on my thighs is what is going to bother me. I still think I'd rather have excess skin than fat, so I'm not going to let that bother me!

I'm at 220 presently. Been here for a year. Originally I thought 170 but I've come to realize I'm happy where I am and not willing to cut my food any lower or exercise more. I may still be overweight by all charts but who cares. I feel I look good, I feel good. I'm 52 it's tme to enjoy life and not worry about what charts or scales say. In fact I am doing plastics(ba/bl, lbl and thighlift) on the 15th. When I went in I was nervous the Dr. would laugh me out of the office at my weight but he agrees with being at the same weight for a year it isn't likely for me to lose more and suggested more than I thought possible. So if you are comfortable where you are why worry about it. How often do you go around announcing to the world how much you weigh.

Interestingly when I've told people what i now weigh they can't believe I weigh 195.  When I was younger and in the 175-200 range (and even a little heavier) I never looked liked I weighed what I did.  I guess that trait's back...hooray!!

I think I'll exercise more as it gets warmer, keep my band about the same and eat what I've been eating (around 1200cal and 80 gms of protein).  If it takes me a year to lose the 20 I'm ok with that.  I don't want to actively ever diet again.  ever.

lol

ETA- I think if I were to reach 155 I would need some serious plastic surgery, to feel normal.  I'm already starting to wonder how my shorts/bathing suit are going to look with my saggy thighs...ugh

I am usually about 156 now (5'2"). Which puts me just under obese. I am now size 14. Before I gained all the weight about 20 yrs. ago, my usual weight was 134 and I was fat. (Size 14...........but u know we have the "vanity sizing" now). My goal weight was to be around 100. At my height and bone structure I would have to be right around 100 to be thin. I would like to get down to at least the weight I was before I gained all the weight. But if I stay at this weight..............I am actually ok with that. It's amazing how thin this feels after being over 250!

I'm not older but I can say I am a spring chicken with a skin problem; hello PS!! LOL

As for goal weight, mine has changed, I think. I would love to see 120lbs; today I hit 132lbs even (then had a really nice chocolate binge, oops.)

I started off wearing size 20s. I'm now wearing LOOSE size 4s; 2s don't quite fit in the legs but I think in a few weeks I'll be in them.

As time passes I think I am slowly accepting the fact I may never see 120lbs, and maybe I don't want to. After PS I'm sure I'll drop below 130lbs, or maybe even before PS, but right now at 132, I do feel good. I never expected to be this small so right now, 130lbs is my goal. Once I get there I'll reassess again.
