Sorry to hear about this. Never heard of it before so can't really say much about it - just to send you my best wishes!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thank you all for your replies and kind words. I am totally confused as to what to do at this point. On one hand I totally trust my doctor and believe he is right that a quick in-and-out procedure will fix the problem. On the other hand, I don't want to have to go through the 5 stage post-op diet, shoulder pain, etc. that I went through just 3 months ago. Maybe I want to revise to another procedure? I don't know....... I can hardly find any literature on this complication. It seems to be THAT rare (figures!). I'm just very frustrated and very confused.

Does your surgeon offer the VSG (or another method, if that's what you'd prefer)?  If not and you want to revise, you might run into some problems as I've heard most surgeons won't touch a patient who's already had surgery through someone else.

Either way, I hope you get this sorted ASAP!!

Wow, that stinks!!  So sorry to hear that!  Revising probably wouldn't be a bad idea if it's possible.  If not, good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery!!

Hi Alyssa!

A band unlocking is rare, BUT it has happened and people have reported it happening right here on this LB forum.

No worries hun.  There is nothing you could do but move forward and get it ataken care of.  You will not have to have the port messed with!

On my last office visit with my operating surgeon prior to surgery (12/01/10) he advised me of all of the complications (again) and further stated that he had one lap band that had come unlocked. He said that he had no idea how this had happened.

Sorry that this has happened to you.
