I am getting the band on 3/23.  I have read a lot of posts about the band being horrible and I will regret this decision.....This is not what I want to hear!!!  LOL.......I am so worried, it will not be good, cuz then what will I do?  insurance will only pay for 1 procedure.  I can't/wont change my mind right now, because I am so excited, but dang what if.....I'm worried....I didnt go through 2 wks of liquid for nothing!!  lol

It's totally normal to be nervous before surgery!  You researched and made a personal decision with your surgeon for the surgery you feel is the right choice for you!  I was a little worried too, thinking maybe I should get the bypass but I am so happy with my decision.  There are many many happy successful bandsters.  You need to stay focused on your journey and success.  Good luck! There are what ifs for each and every one of the surgeries. And justifiably, you should consider them. There are certainly things that can go wrong and unexpected. Nobody likes it, but it happens.

i had a complication...it cost me both time, money and mentally it was a set back, but I dealt with it and continued along my way. I have known others that weren't so lucky to continue with their journey. They are out there. But I believe that there are far more happy bandsters than there are complications.

I thought that before my surgery and I do still do to this day, but hey.... I was willing to play the odds because life was just outright sucking at 300 lbs. The surgery risk for me has been completely worth it. I am now able to participate in my life in ways I just couldn't do before. My marriage is better, my love life is better, but don't tell my husband. Just kidding. My hubby and I have a better than ever sex life. I think I even have a better relationship with family and coworkers. I'm sure thats due to me having a better overall attitude in life.

But make no mistake. The band makes you work for your weight loss. Prepare to start exercising your self control and exercising your body. BTW- We're saving you a seat. You can do this!!!

I agree with what the others have said. I was so nervous before my surgery and almost talked myself out of it. I am s glad I didn't. I wish you the best of luck no matter what you decide.

It's normal to be nervous! You did your research, you found out the good and the bad, you made your choice!

May the band be as wonderful for you as it is, and has been for almost 5 years, for me.

I'd say you're having normal pre-surgery jitters.  As long as YOU feel that this is the right procedure for you, then go for it!

This may help you...I don't know who wrote it, but when I was having doubts and getting non-support from very important people - I turned to this:

"Whatever it is that makes you feel good about yourself and your life, do it...no matter what anyone else says, or what others opinions are, the opinion you have of yourself and that little voice, is what can make you or break you...others cannot live your life, it is your path".

I chose the band because of my life-style.  I needed a quick recovery to take care of my son who is disabled.  I'm just about 4 weeks out, lost 25 lbs, and can now walk 1/2 a mile comfortably!  I couldn't make it to the end of my block before!

Have faith in yourself!  Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I think we all have pre-surgery reservations and jitters.  As long as you are confident and ready to commit 150% to a lifetime of healthy changes and guidelines, you should become a successful bandster.  You can do this!  Have you picked up a copy of the book "Bandwagon: Strategies for Success with the Adjustable Gastric Band" by Jean McMillan??  I wish I had purchased (or even knew about) this book before my surgery - it is now my handbook.  I highly recommend it for bandster success! Best of luck to you and please stick with this forum on OH...it is a great support system long term. :)

Thank you all....I am defiantly going to stick with it.  I guess I am looking at it like this, no matter what surgery I have, there is always a "chance" of something going wrong.  If we didn't take risks, we wouldn't leave our homes, right?  I'm just ready to be done with it and move on to the next chapter of my life!

Thank you all again....If I don't get a chance to post before surgery, I will be on after surgery...Save me that seat on the losers bench!

Think of it this way, next week at this time it your surgery will be over and you will be at home recovering and happy that you did it. It seems the days leading up to surgery go so slow and there are mny sleepless nights. After surgery time flies by. And before you know it you ar a couple months out, feeling great and losing weight.
