Get yourself some of the pain patches and put one on the front of your shoulder and one on the back. Or you can use a heating pad and wrap it around the top of your shoulder.
Its not unusual to lose a lot of weight at first. Being on liquids will, obviously, help with the weight loss.
And age plays a factor in the healing process and the length of the pain, so to speak. When I had my first surgery, I did okay. 2nd surgery....didn't bounce bck as fast. 3rd time around, the surgery kicked my butt and it took DAYS for me to recover.
Don't get dehydrated. Keep the liquids going in. You don't want to go back in to the hospital for an IV to rehydrate.

.....i havent felt full yet and have been feeling hunger since the day after surg. thats confusing me!! but best of luck to you!
Congrats on your surgery also! Your comment about feeling full...
I have never felt "full". I feel satisfied with my small amount of food, but never had the physical feeling of fullness. Before surgery I thought I would eat a little bit and would have that feeling, but I never have. Also, with liquids, they just go right on through the band. You won't feel full from liquids or slider foods. When you are okayed to be on solid foods, the dense protein is what works best with the band to give the feeling of satiety. And feeling some hunger for me is normal. It doesn't hurt me to have a little hunger, but a snack of a high protein food will help or a high protein little "meal". But you need to follow your surgeon's diet plan to be safe at this point.

3 days post op and hungry is normal. The swelling is going down and the primer may have been taken out of the band so you really don't have any restriction at all.
Every surgeon will do that first fill at different times and they have to be gradual fills so you're going to be hungry until you start with the fills. Protein shakes will keep you full and hydrated and since you're probably on liquids still, they are a good choice.
I'm sorry for your pain. Like I posted recently, age sometimes has a lot to do with that. But if your surgeon didn't prescribe a pain medication (which was probably liquid), I'd call and ask for a script.
Time makes it better and this is a totally new lifestyle than you've had to adjust to before. It's a learning experience so hang in there and you'll see results in no time. That first weigh in after your surgery will give you encouragement. After all, when you've had nothing but liquids for days, you'll surely see a nice weight loss.

Everyone has a unique experience with their post op pain after the band. Some talk about going shopping the day of the surgery and some have a longer recovery time. I had a large hiatal hernia repair and ended up having two surgeries in the same day and it was rough. I slept in the recliner at night for the first week because it hurt too much to be in bed. I took pain medicine at home. I had a terrible sore throat where it burned to drink. I could go on and on..... anyway..... it will get better.
Keep taking short frequent walks to get that gas out. Keep sipping the fluids. Also it's a time for healing so don't worry about the weight at this point. It will come off. Just follow your surgeon's diet plan to keep your band safe as it heals.
Congrats on your surgery! I promise, it will only get better and better!
