How often do you get stuck or PB?
Hi OC, I don't get stuck too often. When I do, it's me, not the band. My surgeon put fluid in at the time of surgery (said he wanted to give me some added restriction since I was so gung ho about losing this weight). So I haven't had a fill yet and Wednesday was 4 months out. According to his scale, I was down 40 pounds, but I go by the WW scale. I'd be extra careful with the chewing for the next couple of days and see if that helps with the PBing. Don't wait too long for the unfill because you don't want to cause any additional irritation!! Best of luck!
In the beginning of my journey, it happened to me a lot. My surgeon and I came to the conclusion it was a combination of me and the band. It takes a while for our brains/minds to be retrained. We have to retrain our brains to say to ourselves, hey, it's OK to be full after 5 or 6 bites of foods. And it takes a while to retrain our brains to eat SLOWLY and CHEW, CHEW, CHEW. After some getting used to, I would say I haven't gotten stuck really since Thanksgiving (my mind is still healing... it's a life long journey!). So just be careful, be mindful of what you are eating and enjoy what little we can have and work with your tool of our wonderful bands!
Good luck and take care!

all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence. I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!

I had surgery in early January. In the beginning I had a few episodes a week. Then it was down to two a week, then once a week. Now it rarely happens at all. For me i took a while to learn what I could and couldn't eat and how much I could eat with my band. When was your last fill?
I was getting stuck and vomitting every day...
I thought there is something wrong with my band I'm too tight or it has slipped but it turns out that it was a combo of my TOM and being swollen from all the stuck and vomiting...
So I went on a pure liquid diet for 3 days and now I'm good as gold...
Good luck and you may want to think about resting your pouch...

I've never PB'd.
I have been stuck 4 times in 20 months. I decided that the food was just too dry.
After a stuck you need to do fluids for at least 24 hours and then progress carefully to softs etc.
A stuck causes swelling and you need to give it time before progressing to regular foods or you will get stuck again, causing more swelling.

When my band was not placed correctly, I was getting stuck and PBing quite often.
Now that my band is positioned correctly, and I have good restriction, it's a rare occurrance. I do have food addictions and will sometimes try to eat foods that I KNOW just don't work for me....or I take too big of a bite, or eat too fast.
I have to say, it's amazing to have good restriction without all of the pain I had from a badly placed band.
For YOU.....I am sure that you are just needing to train yourself. When you have a PB episode, it's best to stay on liquids for 24 hours. Give your stoma a break and rest. Then, proceed with caution.
We all KNOW that we are supposed to eat pea-sized bites, but how many of us really do? I can tell you, when I eat anything with peas in it, I am shocked at how small that is supposed to be, and I am 3 years out!! ha ha!! Get your water in and stick with foods that you know will wor****il you are very practiced at eating like a bandster!

I think we all get confused, more so in the beginning. Sometimes it is just the food choice our band area doesn't like. For instance I 80% of the time have a rotten time with chicken, my friend can eat chicken with no problem. I can eat eggs and she cannot. My rule for me is that if I know I took a small bite, chewed and chewed and feel stuck I make the choice to stop and then if I really want that food again, I wait a week and try again. If it happens a second time..........I just stop! But remember that once you have a stuck episode, to try for liquids for 24 hours in order to relieve the swelling and safe yourself any problems.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Band removed and feeling alive with energy!
I have gotten sick once and that was totally my fault !! I ate a piece of home made beef jerky and then downed about half of bottle of water and up it came lol. Lesson learned.
Other then that I dont have any problems, but I also keep my band on the loose side also so I would have to eat a really big piece of meat for me to get stuck on something .
