Why did I even bother?
Not to be negative but I am so grumpy with the idiotic Dr. who I had to have for my EGD. I had my band unfilled February 9th because I had all the tell tale signs of a stomach ulcer, but to be sure I had an EGD scheduled. The Dr. (independent of my surgeon) scheduled it 5 weeks out. 5 WEEKS! So yesterday they finally went into check after I have been on a roller coaster of wondering if I had any band related issues instead (since the pain went away as soon as they unfilled my band). Sure enough the results were that I had some slight irritation and should give it 15 days to heal, but meanwhile zero feedback about my band.
Well no duh I had just some slight irritation, its been 5 weeks! I looked it up and ulcers only take 4-6 weeks to heal completely. I had to take a day off work, get a baby sitter and find someone to drive me (since I wasn't allowed to drive myself based on being put to sleep), and pay these rediculous absorbant gas prices all for something that was completely a waste of time. I suppose knowing that the inside of my stomach will be done healing within a week or two is something but I feel like screaming. On a side note I have been killing myself with diet and exercise and am am not losing. I will be so glad to start having my band refilled in April.

Was this an endoscopy? Did they put you out and put the camera down your throat to check things out? Why didn't your bariatric surgeon do the test for you? A regular doc wouldn't know how the band should look, etc. Maybe you can request that your Bariatric sugeon review the film? Since you had the test done you might as well make sure EVERYTHING looks o.k.
Did he prescribe otc Prilosec or Omeprozole? When I had the same thing, (my Baratric surgeon thought I could have an ulcer. He did an endoscopy and discovered it's mild gastritis, unfilled me for 2 weeks and told me to take otc Prilosec for 2 weeks. Everything has been great since!
I'm sorry you had a negative experience but at least it's not an ulcer, (or isn't anymore)!
Best~

I'm so sorry Sarah you are busting your butt and have been having troubles. I know how frustrating that can be, especially while being unfilled! But I am so very happy it's just irritation at this point and it's healing. This could have been much more problematic to your health.
Happy Healing!

Is it possible that he is sending a report to your band doc to go over? I know sometimes when I have tests they don't tell me what the resutlts are because someone else has to review the pictures and write a report. Then they send it to whatever doc requested it. Just a possibility but hope things go quickly for you so you can get back on track!
