 HI,

No longer any problems with my band it is GONE!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't be happier.  Band removed and revised to a sleeve 3 weeks ago.

I also have very few posts and have been lurking for years.

Hope you and your sister either find a good doctor.

Good Luck

Emily, because you know the stress I've been thru lately, it brought tears to my eyes to see your post.  Thank you.  What a sweet comment.  I'd like to think I've helped a few people along the way and that, hopefully, people have learned from my mistakes.

Thank you, Emily, for your word of encouragement.  You lifted me up, God brushed me off, and I'll be fine.

I just want to say how sorry I am about everything that you have gone through, I can't even imagine that!  I have been banded for six months (tommorow) and I have not had any problems that I didn't cause myself like drinking too soon after eating or not chewing properly/eating too much.  My prayers are with you and I hope you and your sister can find a solution

Take care,

Lori

TY, Lori, for this post and the well wishes.  Good luck with your band.  Hope you're one of many who always love it and never have a problem.

Hun I have had NO luck with the band whatsoever! It has been a horrible experience and I wish I had never even heard of the band!

My experience though has been nothing like your and your sister's nightmare experience! HUGS!

Unfortunatly this band forum does NOT seem to be the place to bring band problems. I am attacked on here almost everytime I mention my negative band experience. They get all pissed off and say I am "fear mongering" and "scaring the newbies". Well excuse me.............maybe they SHOULD be scared! Had I known in advance the band was like this I would have been scared as hell! I think it's very cruel that they should want to pre-ops to hear just thier good band stories and don't want them to know the whole truth so they can make an INFORMED decision about the band!

My heart goes out to you, your sister, and the other lady! Unfortunately band problems are not at all uncommon.

I am hoping to revise to VSG, but after wasting $15,000 on the band there is no money left at this time to pay for that.

As bad as my band experience has been, it is nothing compared to yours. I have had 16 fills in 16 mos. and no restriction.

Just wondering.............how much has your band ended up costing you so far???

Maria....just the removal of the last port cost me over $2000 and that's not counting all the packing gauze and tape I've bought in the last 9 months.  Changing the bandage at least twice a day....that gets costly.

Since I was banded in November, 2005, I (thankfully) didn't keep up with the price of the fills and unfills and mileage and all of that.  My copay is $35 a pop and over 5 years, I never reached a sweet spot, continued to have the band adjusted, drove the 20 miles round trip with the price of gas steadily going up, and had more than my share of things getting stuck and having to see the surgeon for an unfill.

So, I don't know exactly how much this little venture has costs me but any future wls will be out of pocket for me as my insurance company no longer covers any procedures.  I don't know how my surgeon got this last port removal approved but he did which is why I ONLY paid $2000 out of pocket.

Thanks for your posts.  I didn't mean to cause such a turmoil here.  I've known from the past that you can be blasted on here if you aren't careful so I think I'll go back to reading....after I've addressed all the posts that have come in with my one question this time around.
