Reverie: do you always use flowers as your avis? They are always so pretty and a tempting hint of the spring I can't wait to arrive!

I've got a cold (maybe it's flu, since I didn't feel it coming on.) Regardless, between the insane body aches, pounding headache, extreme exhaustion, etc., I have no inclination to get to the gym (or anywhere other than my computer or my bed.) I had JUST gotten back into the rhythm of going on a regular basis and now I get hit with this. Dammit.

Some fucknugget called my 12 year old son a "******" for wearing Beiber-like purple skinny jeans.  Same kid called him a "ginger" last month because he has strawberry-blonde hair.  So, I went to the principal today and tattled.  They have a strict bullying policy, so now that he has had a "talkin to," one of two things will happen: he'll stop being a dick in fear of being reprimanded; or he'll make it worse and call him a "mama's boy" and/or "tattle-taler." Praying it's the former not the latter.

Regardless, the **** breaks my heart!!!  I was bullied relentlessly for being fat and it let to severe depression and suicidal thoughts.  This **** is no joke!!!

I think he has little-mans complex because this kid is a twerp.  But he's a "cool kid" and apparently the ringleader.  Ugh...parenting is hard.

Bullying infuriates me! Most of the time the schools do nothing. In fact I just posted on my website earlier tonight about how bullying increases as the BMI increases. So sad! :-(

Hope things get better for you son at school!

Thanks Maria.  It is AWFUL to see him have to deal with it.  His school has a pretty strict bullying policy so I put the situation in their hands.  Crossing fingers on how today went...I pick him up in a hour.

This type of behavior is the groundwork for a suicide statistic.  Sim
ply devistating!

Maria - I am  pleasantly surprised to report that Reed came up to Shane today, gave him a hug and said he was sorry!!  He was also given a referral, detention for a week and a formal report was filed with the San Diego City School District as what he called Shane is considered a hate crime (glad they take it seriously!).  I am very pleased with the outcome (so far). I am very glad they have such strict bullying policies now - wish they did 25 years ago!! :)

Omg I'm so happy! Most schools don't take it serious, but it IS a hate crime as far as I'm concerned!

Unfortunately we do not have any strong legislation like that here. About 10 yrs. ago this boy in the Atl. area was bullied so much he took a gun to school. When they started picking on him again, he pulled the gun out and killed his self right there in the classroom! (He was an overweight child to I beleive)

After that occured his parents lobbied the legislature and after several yrs. finally got something passed, but by the time it did it was so watered down that it wasn't much deterent at all. :-(

Very glad to hear a much happier ending on your end!!!

Wow, that is tragic and it seems like they only do something after a major incident as you stated...frickin' damage control instead of preventative measures.  It's ridiculous!  Thanks for responding. My son is back to his chipper self today. :)

That's good things are back to normal. It is the least we can do for kids.........provide them a SAFE enviroment to go to school in, free of taunts and insults. I'm glad they have a strong policy there!

I was a little surprised about how the bounds of bullying extends across the continents. I just tended to think of it as a US thing, but one of the UK YT bloggers is doing a video about bullying those overweight in the UK.
