Traveling on pre-op diet ????

It's spring break and my husband and I were going to take our boys (18 & 21) to Vegas for the weekend beginning on Thursday.  I know I won't have a problem staying on track with my pre-op diet because I am in the right mindset, you know what I mean?  However, because my husband's alias is Mr. Cheap, we are staying in a hotel without a microwave!!!  The only hot thing I am able to have is broth, and I'd really like to have some while I'm there.  I guess I don't absolutely have to have it, but......

Any suggestions?  Please?

Buy the cubes and take them with you to the restaraunt.  Ask the waiter to bring you ho****er and an extra cup.  You might want to bring 1/2 cup measuring cup as well.  Put the cube in the cup with 1/2 cup (4 ozs. of ho****er).  It would be the same as asking for tea.  Where there is a will there is a way.

I'm looking at the possibility of the same situation, except the entire week for business.  NOT looking forward to explaining to my boss' boss why I can't eat solid food.

You might want to look into getting a jar of Better Than Bouillon (http://www.superiortouch.com/retail/products/better-than-bouillon) to take with you.  In a pinch you can make it with hot tap water and it's pretty tasty.  I highly recommend the vegetable flavor, but they're all really good and I believe it's lower sodium than the cubes.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone, for the great ideas!  I'm confident that I will continue to do well even though I'm away from home.  I knew I could count on you all when I'm in a dilemma!
