Question about the psych eval.
It seemed to me that the Dr wants to make sure you are wanting WLS for the right reasons, and that you have realistic expectations about what losing weight will mean in your life. Many of us use food as a form of self medication and once u aren't able to use it in that way, some people form other addictions like drugs or alcohol. The Dr job is to make sure you don't seem pre disposed to these types of problems.
during my psych eval, my psychiatrist told me right off the bat that nothing i said could disqualify me from surgery, which really put my nerves at ease. i suppose that means i wasn't too great at disguising my nervousness :)
each evaluation is different, but mostly she just wanted to know that i was aware of what the surgery entailed, that i was competent to give consent, that i understood what giving consent meant, and that my expectations for weight loss were reasonable.
so, relax and take big breaths! it will be fine!
good luck!

Just be honest! They are mostly looking to see if you have serious conditions that would make it difficult for you to work the program. Myself I had 2 hours of written questions, multiple choice, then met with the doc a week later for a quick chat. From the answers he was able to determine whether I was having any issues that needed dealing with before surgery. I didn't and was OK'd. I don't think I've read of the evaluation causing a stall in scheduling surgery or at least not a cancellation of it. Don't stress about it and just be honest.

Totally normal to be nervous. My appointment involved turning in a long questionnaire and an hour long consult. Before hand I was so nervous I felt that somehow something I would say would cause me to get a big red "CRAZY' stamp. Turns out it was a great appointment! I learned a lot and was totally at ease.
A lot of the questions I was asked centered around trying to find out if I had an eating disorder or any addictions. The psychologist also tried to find out if I was thinking this surgery would magically fix everything else in my life that was wrong and what kind of support network I would have for life after surgery.
I hope your appointment goes well -- try to make the best learning opportunity out of it you can. You may also want to find out if this person will be available (or can recommend someone) for follow up appointments after your surgery. After surgery it is pretty common to have issues come to light that you might find helpful to talk over with a professional.

whenever im nervous i start crackin jokes..the day of my surgery I had the nurses the surgeons and the anesthesiologist all crackin up...when i woke up after the surgery the first thing i asked was if one of the nurses could go down to the lobby and check if the guy from dominoes was still there with the pie i ordered.
When my husband woke up in the recovery room after an inguinal (groin) hernia repair, he looked up at the nurse and said, "Was it good for you, too?"
