Surgery is in 3 days!!!!
So, I'm on my liquid diet, and it is getting harder and harder...I'm getting really nervous about surgery Tuesday morning, but I know it is probably the best decision I have ever made for myself, and for once in my life I am being selfish! I'm fortunate that my fiance supports me 100% and he is now starting to make steps to a healthier him.
Any advice or suggestions? I have met so many great people from here and each time they give me advice, I learn something new!
This site is the best site I have ever been a member of...thank you so much for all of your support :)

I know how you feel! I had my surgery on Feb 15th and I was so nervous (just like you are)! I also felt really good that I was being selfish and taking care of myself first for a change! My surgery went amazingly well and I know that yours will too. Just follow all of the instructions that you are given carefully and make sure that you have a plan as to what foods you will eat after the surgery. Try to have those foods in the house before you go for the surgery. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and I went to a support group meeting on that Thursday (that's how good I felt)!
I'm rooting for you! Congratulations for having the guts to change your life for the better!

Congratulations and good luck. I was banded on 3/9/11 and I feel great. Don't call it selfish because you are doing something for yourself that will benefit everyone that you love. It has been 4 days and everything is fresh for me. I asked what should I take to the hospital and the best advice I got was GAS-X!!!!!! If you don't have it get it. Take it with you to the hospital and have it nearby. It was my saving grace. I took a full overnight bag and only used my toiletries, cell phone and Gas-X. Walk as soon as your nurse will allow it and keep walking. The walking helps the gas and helps you get discharged from the hospital. If you are like me you bought some cute PJ's-go ahead and return them. Wait a couple of months and spend that money on a cute outfit. You won't need the PJ's either, maybe some bottoms that you have at home--so you won't give a show going down the hallway.
You will be fine, don't be afraid. Your surgeon is probably like mine and everything is down to a science. You just need to show up, they will take care of the surgery and you wake up and take it from there. Can't wait to hear from you afterwards. I will be thinking of you on surgery day.

Take some deep breaths and understand that you are making this choice for a healthier new you. You are not being selfish.
You will do great and can't wait to see future posts from you "on the other side" AKA banded. You can do it! :)

Thank you all so much for all the support! I surprise myself more and more each day because I am surviving on the Liquid Diet, and have no desire to even cheat anymore. It was ironic because in church today, the topic was Temptation, and we had to whisper our biggest temptation on a rock, and put on the alter up front of the church and on our way back make our weekly offering (the purpose of it tied into the beginning of Lent). That was probably the best thing to do today of all days!
Thank you all so much! I look forward to posting my outcomes and advice to newbies, like you all have done for me!
Thanks :)
