Movie theater popcorn

Hi All!

Just wanted to share something with you. Yesterday my family and I went to see a movie and ordered the large buttered popcorn combo. I figured since I am over 6 months out that it would be safe to indulge. WRONG! The popcorn went down fine, but an hour after I ate it, I had this overwhelming desire to throw up. I was so nauseous I thought I was going to die.  Luckily, I had some anti-nausea medication left over from my surgery. I took a chance and popped one and voila! It actually took a away the nausea! I think that the next time I visit the weight loss center I am going to ask my surgeon for a refill for emergencies. Note to self: Never order the popcorn at a theater again!

Good decision calorie- wise but quite unusual (I think) otherwise! Most people find popcorn a slider food.  But it is never the same for everyone; i am sure some people will come on and say that popcorn gets stuck for them!

And, for me, I have never thown up as long as an hour after eating - if I need to bring anything back (and that is not vomitting, just emptying out the upper pouch) it is within a much shorter period of time.

Did you actually vomit as opposed to having a PB? I wonder if it was not band related? Or perhaps was it very buttery and your stomach just isn't used to that any more?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi Kate!
I never did throw up, but boy did I feel like I was going to hurl! LOL! I think it was the chemicals in the butter and oil that they cook it in. My body has been free of junk like that and I think that it was just too much of an overload of junk that my stomach couldn't handle it and my body was trying to reject it. Just my opinion. Anyways, thanks for responding! I learned my lesson!

Yep, popcorn is one of the few foods that I have to watch out for and eat very little of.  Luckily you had the meds with you.  Lesson learned :)

I can eat a boatload of popcorn, so I almost never eat it. Maybe 3 times in the last 21/2 yrs. But it sure is good.
