Rough Road With My Band - COMPLETE UNFILL!!!

I sure understand your fear of being totally unfilled but if you stay dedicated to what needs to be done I think it is doable. Easy? Ummm probably not, but not impossible. Remember that people without wls lose weight all the time. The issue of course is keeping it off for most of us. Hopefully after things have calmed down you can be gently refilled to a point that just keeps you satisfied with what you eat.

I am down to 2cc in mine after it suddenly tightened up on it's own between the middle of Nov. and when I got the unfill in late Dec. My UGI was fine, too. We have been out of state since the third week of Jan. so I have been loose the whole time. Any weight I may have picked up (now down again) was solely due to poor choices on my part because other than a few days of real hunger that has not been a problem. Head hunger has been and I used my unfill as an excuse.

I sure wish you good luck and if you end up needing to revise I hope all goes well. Keep us posted.

I would just like to get my band totally removed, no revision, but not sure how to go about this.  I have developed acid reflex after a complete unfill several months ago.  I have pain around my port area since losing weight AFTER I received  a total unfill.  Since my unfill I have lost 18 pounds.  hmmmmmm

sorry you're having trouble. Reflux like yours sounds like dilation - if the upper GI shows this then you do not have to jump through insurance hoops (like for the first time) my ins required - documation of a medical problem (slip, dilation, etc), not within 30% of a "normal" bmi, at least 2 years out from surgery and no compliance issues - they approved my revision to VSG in a week.

Good luck! Hope you find an option that works for you.

Thanks for the replies.  Physically I am feeling better since the unfill.  The reflux subsided within less than 2 days.  Today I woke up and I was fine and no reflux whatsoever.

I certainly do notice a difference in eating as well without being filled.  I pretty much have zero restriction but my hunger is under control right now and watching my portions.

What I am going to try to do since I have a good feeling that I will be able to most things now is replace some of the sliders had been eating due to not being able to eat much solid proteins and certainly now trying actually being able to get down a piece of grilled chicken and some fruits i've always had trouble with like grapes.

Regardless of being filled or not  - being able to add these nutritious foods back into my diet,  I am hoping will help with my fear of gaining weight due to no restriction.

My Upper GI is scheduled for Friday March 18th...so within 2 weeks I should know what is going on.  And where to go from here.

I will certainly update as soon as I know something.
