You are doing well! I strongly believe that the fewer fills the better! But if we actually need them, then there is no point in having had surgery if we don't get them!

For me, I got fills if and when I met two criteria -

in a meal which started with dense protein, i could eat more than I thought reasonable

after a meal, I started to feel physically hungry after les than about 3 - 4 hours.

I never judged my need for a fill by how much I had lost - after all, we can diet with no restriction and eat round the band with restriction!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Lucky,

I was reading another post you wrote and you said you can eat whatever you want and you like that .

I am in the same boat I can eat what I want also , I didnt get the band to stop me from eating my favortie foods that is not what the band is deisigned to do . I wish people in my support group would realize that *sigh*

My question to you is if maybe you cut back on some of them "bad" foods you are eating you will start to lose again ?

Get back to your measuring cups, start eating protein first  at least 25 grams per meal and see how you feel then ?

Just from eating the right foods again you might suprise yourself and not need a fill at all.

Just dont go and run and get a fill without going back to your basics first and see if that helps you out  and you didnt mention exercise . I dont know your health problems if you have any , but are you doing any kind of exercise ?  Even something small if it hurts you to much .

And congrats one fill since your surgery that is amazing !!!  There is one guy in our support group went 2.5 yrs without a single fill and lost over 200 pounds.  He got his first fill just a couple of weeks ago.

I am 9 months out and just had my second fill.  I probably needed it back in December, but holidays, weather and other commitments got in the way.  In August, I had 3 ccs added and this time just a half cc.  I feel the difference.  I decided to get a fill because I was getting hungry about 2-3 hours after eating a meal with primarily dense protein.  I purposely ate exactly as I have been directed and made note of the time I felt physically hungry.  I could have had as much as 2 cc but opted to take it easy, since my initial fill of 3cc was sufficient for so long.

I agree with Kate. Can you go 3-5 hours without being hungry? That is restriction. If not, then maybe you need a small fill. I can tell you I went 9 months without one and everything was great until the last 6 weeks and that was around the holidays and I felt like I could eat anything. That is when I knew it was time. I felt like I grazed all day! I had only .5cc put in and a few weeks later had to have .2 cc taken out because allergy season came early to the Midwest & I'm tight around then.

You say you haven't had a fill, but have you seen your surgeon?

Hi Lucky,
That was an aggressive first fill, 4 cc. It probably took me 3 fills to get to that. As the others have said, go back to basics first. Start eating your dense protein and your veggie or fruit. See how long it takes for your to feel, stomach not head hunger. Do it for a couple of days. If you are still hungry in less than 4 hours you may need a small fill. I mean you could get 1/2 cc and it could make all the difference. I have found over the years, I do better a LITTLE loose, but everyone is different. I am full on my 4 oz of food for the 4-5 hours. Good luck!!
