January-February 2011 Bandsters - chime in

So... how is it going?  Highlights?  Struggles?  Second thoughts?  Jubilation?

I had my surgery on 1/28/11.  The procedure itself was easy-peasy, outpatient lap.  I was out of work for a week and felt normal by the time I started back.  In fact, I (unfortunately) sometimes forgot that I had the band (like when I had half a drink through a straw and then remembered).

Pre-op liquids were fine (lost 15 lbs on two weeks of optifast), post op diet progression sucked.  I had my first fill almost two weeks ago (he put in 6 ccs).  I don't have restriction, per se, I can eat more than I should if I am not careful and definitely get hungry after 2-3 hours so I'm not in the green zone.  But I'm not too far, I think (maybe?), because I got stuck (!!!) twice this week (once was deli turkey, the other time was that trader joe's plain salmon).  That seriously freaking hurt and I hope to avoid that again.

Anyway, I am happy I did this and anxiously awaiting my next fill.  My dr. is pretty aggressive, it's this Friday.  I started exercising this weekend - it is going to by my biggest challenge to do some form of movement every day, but I know that will be the key to me losing as much as I need to lose.

Hope you are all not bored to death and I would love to hear from you!  Have a great day (and please ignore my lack of photo, I need to do that from home but can never get online at home with the kids running around).

Congrats on your progress. I was banded February 17th. Surgery went well. I stayed the night in the hospital and went home the following morning. I could have went back to work sooner but I took from the 17th of February to the 2nd of March off. Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks post-op. I'm still on liquids. I start soft foods on the 17th of this month. I saw the Dr. 13 days post-op and was down 16lbs. I have not weighed since. I feel great though. I'm scheduled to see my Dr. on the 30th of this month for my 1st fill. We'll see how it goes

Okay, this is crazy.  I lived in Coos Bay, Ore. for three  years when I was a kid.  My dad was stationed at Coos Bay Naval Air Station.  Such a small world!  I went to Moore Elementary for 1-4th grades.

That is crazy. So where was Moore Elementary? The only elementary schools in Coos Bay in the last 34 years are or were Madison, Charleston, Bunker Hill, Blossom Gulch and Eastside Elementary.

I had the wrong school!  (Curse of the military kid who moved a lot).  Moore Elementary was in Maine, where we lived before Coos Bay.  I went to Madison Street School in Coos Bay.  We lived in base housing and I remember walking to school, so it couldn't have been too far, although I'm sure I could never find my way there now.
