OK Now I need everyones Help.. I can Do this.
I went to the doctor yesterday and found out why I have been having so many issues with my band. It was completely full, the doctor was amazed I delt with the pain and puking for this long.
When she took the fluid out it hurt so bad, but when I sat up I was amazed, all the pain I was having was gone, I could breath again.
So I am step one. I have nothing in my band right now, but I am feeling much better than I have before.
So I need some help with this, What do you all eat? How do I know when Im full?
I know these seem like dumb questions but because of the issue I had I just lived off what I could eat. So I need to be "re trained" so to speak.
I need to lose this weight and be healthy. How much weight did yous lose a week?
Thank you all!
Hello
Everyone's no-no foods are different...so I will tell you what I ate yesterday but someone else might say they can't eat what I ate. I keep my calories under 1200 and my carbs under 30-40..no simple processed carbs.
Breakfast- one egg, turkey sausage, V8 juice
Lunch- 3 slices of turkey, 1 slice of cheese, 6 wheat crackers
Dinner- hamburger patty (no bun), 1 cup of cottage cheese, V8 juice
Dessert- 1/2 cup of applesauce and 2 strawberries
I added the V8 juice because my NUT said that I wasn't getting any veggies (because I hate veggies) so this was a compromise.
Everyone has different signals telling them when they should stop eating. Some people burp, for instance. I get a runny nose...sounds weird but it's true. I found that if I ate much more after my nose starts running than I end up PBing. I never eat to the point that I am too full. You will have to wait and see what your signal is. It's a learning curve. Just remember to eat slowly, taking small bites. And no drink while you are eating.
As far as weight loss...a slow week, 1 pound...an average week I lose 2-3 pounds, I have lost more than 2-3 lbs in one week and I have gone weeks with no weight loss. But as long as I eat well and exercise my butt off I pretty much lose some weight every week.
A great article re: restriction and how the band w
Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16
Courtney glad you are feeling better.
I have no fluid in my band at all. I have not gotten a fill since I got my surgery three months ago. According to my one nurse Im doing it all on my own we have different opinions on the band long story there lol.
Anyways I stay around 800-900 calories on days I dont exercise
no more then 1200 calories on days I do exercise.
I do not give up anything though. I dont believe in that. It wasnt carbs, cookies , or ice cream that made me fat. What made me fat was having no portion contorl that is what got me overweight. Instead of eating a slice or two of pizza I would eat 6 slices of pizza and a sub eating like that is what got me overweight .
I do watch them foods though I dont eat them every day .
I usually stay around 50 carbs a day my doc said nothing above 65 per day . 50 grams of fat per day or less.
I eat around 25 grams of protein per meal , that keeps me full for a good three hrs or more sometimes as much as five hrs.
And to be honest with you if I go a little hungry that is fine with me because a little hunger dont kill nobody !!! .
I have it so wrapped up in my brain that a cup of food is all I need to eat and Im fine with that and my body is getting use to that one cup of food and I can go longer and longer now without getting hungry.
I do alot of self control and will power also that is another reason why I havent gotten a fill .
I have all the faith in you , I believe you can still lose weight without a fill or no saline in your band. I lose around 7-8.5 pounds every four weeks :o)
Good luck !!! You can do it !!!
This is just how Im doing it though. I will always keep my band on the looser side of things.
The meals should be 3oz of protein and 1/2 cup of low carb veggies. Snacks should be hi-protein and low calorie/low carb.
Honestly, when I first started this.. once past immediate post-op of course and back on regular food... I had 4 oz of protein. I was such a high BMI that I didn't think 3oz was enough. As I lost, I gradually moved to 3oz.
If you don't have a scale or don't want to worry with one.. 3oz is about the size (3 dimensional) of a deck of cards... or the palm of your hand. 1/2 cup of veggies is about the size of a tennis ball, or a large kitchen serving spoon, or one of those old-fashioned small glass custard cups holds 1/2 cup.
I don't eat till I'm full. I eat my 3oz and 1/2 cup and move away from the table. IF I'm still hungry 20 minutes later, my doc says I can have more veggies. Usually I'm good with the allowed portion.
Hope this helps.
