Having a band makes no difference to calorie intake. Just as pre-band, you and your nut/doc decide what is going to work for you and all the band does is make it a little bit easier to stick to your chosen limit.

I always ate about 1200 but some people on here eat 1500 and some eat 900!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

It all depends.

On days I exercise i stick to aroun 800-900 calories and the days I exercise I go as high as 1200 .

I never have the same calorie intake each day which I think is good because my body dont get use to it .

I also vary it slightly, so usually between 1100 & 1300, I find that works well for me!

Did your Nut or Dr. give you directions for portion size and/or calories?  I lost my weight on 800-1000 calories a day.  I disagree to some extent, that calories don't matter and shouldn't change just becuase of the band.  There is an issue of capacity.  If getting in 1400 calories puts you over the recommended portions then it's too much.  If you're not losing on 1400 it's too much.  Where I am today I would have a hard time getting in 1400 calories unless I turned to liquids or sliders.  I'm 2 years out and probably average 1200 a day now.  You'll have to play with the numbers but whatever you do, start tracking your food and calories, and protein now so you can educate yourself about what you're eating nutritionally.  If you are carb sensitive you'll be amazed how many carbs are in seemingly healthy, low calorie foods, so even if you're within your desired calorie range the composition of your diet may cause your WL to slow.  It's a delicate balancing act but you'll figure it out.

I was told 800 calories a day, 3 meals and one snack if I needed it.  That's what I did and it worked for me.  Today my Nut  also subscribes to the 6 smaller meals a day theory.  You'll never get a concensus here because there are a many regimes that work but ultimately you'll have to find what works for you.

We're here for you!

Best~
