Dear Lap Band.... I HATE YOU!!!
So, I got this horrible Lap Band 15 months ago, thinking this was going to be a tool I could use to lose weight and start living my life. I am only 22 years old and I am a home body, I hate being a home body, that isnt me.
This band has cause me nothing from pain since the moment I got it placed, my doctor told me I would get used to it, and my body was just adjusting, BULL SH*T.
I followed my rules, I exericsied and for the first month it was great I lost 10 lbs, but then the pain, puking, crying, burning all began.
I tried talking to my doctor but he did nothing, I have gained more weight, most days I cannot eat, or even swallow my own spit and other days I can eat everything.
My throat is raw, My face is full of pop veins from puking and I am more unhappy than anything,
I switched to a different doctor, amd Im going to see him tomorrow. I am so nervous, but I am going to ask him to take the band out and opt for the gastric by pass.
I want children, I want to enjoy exercising again, but most of all I just want to be happy.

There has to be something wrong with this band. I can see how if you aren't chewing enough you would throw up, or eating the wrong foods, but you seem to be having some real complications. I hope your new doctor can direct you in the right way. Perhaps he will take out some of the fluid and then you can eat some soft foods for a week. I could be it is just inflamation that you have. Good luck, and I hope you start to feel better.
I thought my bad was to tight too, but that wouldnt explain how I can get fine with no restrictions on other days.
After the year I had with this, and the pain and how unhappy its made me, I really dont want to give it a second chance.
I know for most people the band is wonderful, but its just not for me :/

to me it sounds like your band is way to tight if you cant eat that should never ever happen with the band .Before I would go through a surgery talk to your doc and take some fluid out and start over and see if that helps you out.
My band wasn't too tight and the same damn thing happened to me.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

I have heard your story many times before. It seems some people are super sensitive to the band and their bodies just can't tolerate it. I seem to be the complete opposite and need to have my band almost completely full before I felt any restriction at all. Funny how people react differently to the same thing.
I am very sorry you are having to live through this and I hope you get some relief. Good luck

That sounds intolerable. And your doc doesn't sound much help! I hope the new doc is more use.
For some people the band just isn't right.
My very best wishes. kate
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Wow.... you sound exactly like me!
There is no answer other than having the damn thing removed. Before considering bypass check out the sleeve board. Know ALL your options and go for it!
There is life after a band, seriously!

I am sorry to hear about your pain...if I was going through what you are through, I too would hate my band.
But please dont think that gastic bypass is your only options if/when you have it removed...you have the sleeve and the DS. please research both to see which one is a better fit...not saying the bypass is not, just asking you to research...and kick your doctor in his behind for me while you are at it..that is horrible.
