Surgery under general anesthesia or conscious sedation?

For any of you that have had a flipped port, did you have it fixed under general anesthesia or conscious sedation???

I don't know. Just wanted to say sorry though. I hate seeing ppl with complications so early out!!! :-(

 I had my port replaced for a low-profile one a couple of years after my surgery. I believe the anesthetist said it would be more like twilight sedation, I was out like I had been hit in the head with a sock full of quarters.

I had general anesthesia.....I asked why they didn't use conscious sedation and they said that they wanted everything totally relaxed since they are working with the muscle wall.

I know someone who had it done in the office with a local (numbing)

It can be done either way.
