I am having trouble with my dinner times.  My eyes are too big for my stomach.  I always over eat at dinner time.  What are some ways that you have learned to portion control for dinner.

Just use a salad plate, fill half of it with your protein, and the other half with your veggie.  If you're eating a starch, replace a couple of spoonfuls of your veggie area with your starch.

im totally still a work in progress, but i made myself a plate this morning. I am worried too about having too much. so i took my plate and crammed it into a measuring cup... and got rid of what would not fit in 3/4 cup.
i make the protien a priority too. then when I am eating I eat the protien and veg first and don't eat the balance if i feel i want to leave something at least then i know i have my protien in!
small plates.... they REALLY help!

Go back to your measuring cups so you can be honest with yourself .  I was very very faithful about that the first two months post op and then I started to slide so out came the measuring cups again this past weekend.

I also use a salad size plate and put 3 oz of protein and the other half is either all vegetables or 1/4 cup vegetables and a sweet potato.

Ziploc one cup bowls are the best! If it won't fit in the one cup bowl, I can't eat it! I use salad plates also. Measuring cups are a must as well. 4oz of meat is 1/2 a cup. My NUT tells me to measure by volume, not by weight.

I agree with Pam about the ziploc bowls.

And even 2 years post-op, I still use my measuring cups, and my food scale.   I live by them.

any one cup container is fantastic. I love to cook and am single so i hate cooking for one... so I make big batches of stuff and use these... i have a week of mushies ready to go... and i even have 2 weeks of meals ready in my freezer. i am a busy person and having these on hand makes thing so much easier. and i assume it will be good if i am hungry and can't decide... there they are the decision is made and i am one step awya from temptation.

there are even smaller containers out there  1/2 cup measure. i plan on using these for salad and stuff...
