what pain is worse, WLS or pregancy?
pain wise having a baby no doubt 100% worse . My lap band surgery was a breeze if it wasn't for a twinge of pain here and there and it wasn't really pain, and my incisions I would have never known I had weight loss surgery done .
Mental aspect between the two WLS is much harder . You have to deal with head hunger work through that , reasons why you want to eat, controlling how much you eat, what to eat.
That is defiantly very hard the mental games and head games that goes along with any kind of WLS

WLS was EASY compared to delivering a baby! Although there is some pain and discomfort to deal with after the surgery. The worst part for me was the port area being very sore and tender for about a week and the gas pain in my shoulder for a couple of days. Other than that, it wasn't bad.
I think that WLS is harder to go through mentally though just like the previous poster said. It is hard to be completely prepared for all the aspects of WLS. Just make sure you do your research and do what is best for you. I love my band and only wish I would have gotten it sooner!!!
Good luck,
Tami

that was not my experience at all i would sooner birth 5 babies than have surgery. our bodies are made to have babies, not surgery. (not that we shouldn't i am just saying we are engineered to have babies). both my labors and deliveries were pretty easy in my opinion. recovery from surgery was hell for me and i bounced back from delivery really well.
Deliveriing my baby was 100% harder. I had surgery on Thursday and was back to work on Monday. I was sore but NOTHING like I was after 27 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing...I am exhausted thinking about it! To me both things have amazing positive outcomes and are worth it. I'd do them both again for sure, but to compare haha I'd have my surgery before having another baby :)

A great deal depends on your surgeon. There are some surgeons that have a morphine pump waiting for the person in recovery, others don't need to give anything but NSAIDs.
It was a piece of cake for me.
Think long and hard about banding. Bands provide the slowest weight loss, the least weight loss, the highest regain, and the most mechanical complications. Most do not keep their bands for long. 25% lose their band in the first five years. Don't assume that least invasive means safer long term, it does not. Sleeves have vastly greater weight loss and vastly fewer complications long term.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

No comparison whatsoever - and I had very fast deliveries! Giving birth is excrutiating while it lasts but (my experience anyway) you forget the pain when you hold the baby.
With my band surgery, there was no such pain. I was up and walking 1 1/2 hours after surgery, cleared to leave hospital 6 hours post-op, went shopping on the way home (DH did the work, I just walked and pointed!). Never needed any pain meds! Went tot eh pub with friends the next noight ( only stayed an hour or so - but that was just tiredness not pain).
But I read of some people needing morphine! So we must all be very, very differnet!
