NSV -- Climb to Conquer Cancer

My husband and I did this 3 mile hike up "A Mountain" 4 years ago -- and we did it again today.

4 years ago, I had to stop about 10 times on the way up -- to catch my breath, to rest, to decide if I wanted to keep going.  I kept telling everyone to go on ahead of me, and I probably finished 30 minutes or more after the group I was in.

Fast forward to today --- my husband and I 'climbed' up the mountain in under an hour, he got a plate of good old AZ Mexican food, I ate a few pretzles and then we hiked back down.

I did not have to stop 1 time to catch my breath or rest --- I enjoyed the beautiful AZ 'winter' weather of 55 degrees at 8am -- warming up to about 78 this afternoon.

Then, tonight, I took the dog out for a 4 mile walk .  Total for the day of over 10 miles.

I am so grateful for the life that my band has given me.

Tomorrow morning the pup and I are going to do an 11 mile walk  --- my husband's foot hurts after the hiking today, so I am going to let him rest!

Well done! Isnt' it the most wonderful feeling!!

Last week in Austria, we walked up a 4.5k hill which took us up 700 metres in altitude - so incredibly steep and on soft snow which was at the same time slippery and your feet sank in. All so we could toboggan down it!

There were 8 of us in the group and Mike and I got to the top in well under an hour - 10 minutes before anyone else and over 40 mins before the last of the group (and all of the people were experienced and fit walkers!).

We were out of breath! In fact everyone, even the professional guide,  was red faced and sweating by  the top! But I defy anyone not to have been like that!!!

And then i fit on the small wooden toboggan to race down!!

I am quite serious when i say that not only could I not have climbed that before, I think it might quite literally have killed me.

I love my band!

Kate

WooHoo Kath!  Wish I had your weather!  It's dreary and cold and windy and chance of snow/rain.  And did I say dreary out? haha  Spring is coming, spring is coming.  In one month I will have daffodils blooming in my gardens.  I have to keep telling myself that.

Congrats on the climb!  Sounds like fun!

Well done Kath.  Life is so much better when your feet don't hurt and your lungs don't feel like they are about to collapse any minute.

When I was 280lbs my brain was telling me that I was still in my 20's and 150lbs.  10 minutes into the walk I was blaming every thing but my fat.  The ground was uneven, my shoes are crap and I need to buy different ones. I must have been sitting or sleeping funny because now my knees hurt.

Now due to my band and my healthy lifestyle changes I am enjoying the scenery, the cool weather  and life in general.

Did you take pictures?

Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.
