This post-op phase is absolutely the most important part of your weight loss journey, and you have to be strong!  Your band has to settle into a groove, and scar tissue needs to adhere to keep the band in place.  It is essential that you follow your doctor's post-op instructions.  I know it's difficult.  But it will pass, and you'll probably see a nice change on the scales to give you a head start on losing.  One of my favorite things during liquids was strained won ton soup.  Just having that different flavor was such a treat!  (Plus my Chinese restaurant gave me two quarts for the price of one, broth only!)  Wishing you the best for recovery, and a great start for your new life!

Hi There - I'm 12 days out so I know what you are going through.  Someone mentioned sugar free popsicles - they've helped me alot.  And I believe Campell's Healthy Select makes a Maryland Crab Soup that is delicious!  I just strain everything out and sip the broth.  I know you're not getting the "chewing" sensation, but its filling.

I have two more days on the Full Liquid diet, then pureed for 2 weeks, and then soft solid food after that.

Hang in there- it'll be worth it!
Good Luck!

Gum was helping (I love the mint chocolate chip) but today, it just seemed to make me want to eat more. I have SF pop-sickles. I wasn't told if I could have soup...but you better believe I am making a call first thing in the morning to find out if I can :) I just want you all to know, I am not gonna eat and I understand why we can't; but protein shake after protein shake is driving me crazy! I am sure tomorrow will be different...one day at a time...one protein shake at a time :)

Hi Jenny-
as an FYI my surgeon said I should not have gum and the reason is that the action of chewing starts the juices flowing in our stomach and causes us to create more acid and getting hungry waiting for food to come down... so I found SF mints from Trader Joes was a great alternative!

I know protein shakes are rough but I bet they will say yes to SF popsicles….and there is a whole world of those!!

The band may not be perfect, but it will be perfect for me!

Sorry I feel for you!

I remember so desparately wanting to CHEW something. Some of the time I froze my protein shakes into "ice cream" so I could get a different texture. It helped a lot. During the liquids phase I was allowed to have pureed soup and sugar free jello to. Campbells' tomato soup was absolutely WONDERUL. I also made a butternut squash soup that helped me make it through.

I moved to soft foods in a week.

Like Trixie, my protein shakes went in the freezer. Then I would tell myself I was having a milk shake! Also, I was told no gum by my surgeon also. But sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles and sugar free fudgesicles were on the approved list!

The crystal light popsicles are really good too! But you can make your own by pouring some in an ice tray and sticking them in the freezer. If you miss the sensation of chewing, do that with crystal light in ice trays and chew on the ice cubes!

I spoke with my doctor yesterday...and I can have soup! Strained soup, but none the less, I can have soup! I had vegetable soup last night (of course minus the veggies) ! I can also have yogurt and SF pop-sickles. Yesterday morning was REALLY hard for me. I love breakfast food, and it took everything I had not to eat, but I made it! This morning hasn't been bad at all! I guess some days are gonna be easier/harder then others! I can't wait until next Tuesday! Eggs and cream of wheat for breakfast :) Oh and refried beans for dinner (one of my favorite foods). Thanks to everyone who has helped me!
