band free, never felt better

Never say never... After just a short 7 months of wonderful and exciting weight loss I had ONE extremely severe stuck episode and it was over. Unfortunately I still have my band but it is useless. I had to have the fluid removed after the episode and every month after that I had a little fluid put back in. My doc was never able to find my sweet spot again and eventually I got to tight. It's as if that ONE stuck episode ruined my sweet spot. So now at this point I eat only slider foods such as cottage cheese, Lunch meat, Yogurt, Pudding, Cheese things like that. I have heart burn EVERYDAY and I cough up stomach acid EVERYNIGHT... Do I wish my band was gone? YES do I wish for another WLS yes. I lost 82 LBS in the first 7 months. I was very excited and loved my band. I have gained 10 lbs back since Feb of last year but for the most part I have maintained. I would still recommend to others but I ALWAYS share my unfortunate events.

OMG, this sounds just like my experience after getting filled in January. Unfortunately a partial unfill hasn't completely resolved my problems. My original surgerry cured my GERD, and it was pretty mild-but my God! The reflux I have now is killing me. I'm taking OTC Prilosec twice per day now and still have to sleep on 3-4 pillows in order to not choke on acid at night.

Seriously, do it before you end up like me. It only gets worse from this point.
Do you have insurance? Even if it doesn't cover bariatrics it will likely cover band removal in an emergency. If it doesn't (and I think it will) come to MX. Just get that thing out.

I'll freely admit I'm being a total ostrich and sticking my head in the sand. I know I need to get an Upper Gi or EGD done, I'm just completely overwhelmed and scared about what it'll show.Well, you already know the band isn't working for you, all it's doing is making things worse. Do it now before you end up with permanent problems.
Seriously, there is no reason to wait.
