please help!
I am not sure what is going on maybe if someone else has gone through it you can tell me some thing. I have told my docter the first time I got the pain, I have got it two more times since I told him. I think I am have a stuck issue, but the pain is soooooooo great in my uper belly, I get the swets and I feel like I am going to pass out. I did feel I wanted to throw up, but only after the pain was slowing down. As soon as I feel the pain coming on I take pain meds. I know I got to talk to the doctor just wanted to know if anyone can tell me some thing befor I see him.
What are you eating? Perhaps you need to look at your food and see if it is too soon to be eating certain foods....maybe you need to go back to just pureed and soft mushy foods....
If I eat a food that feels like it is getting "stuck", I too get the pain, the sweats, and feeling like I will pass it, wanting to vomit.....it does pass when the food goes down thru the pouch.....I have a tight band ....8 cc's filled in a 9-10 cc band....
Yes , you need to call the doctor, and tell him what's going on......

Well I had an egg and it did feel like it had a hard time going down which has happen befor, but I did have coffee a little while after, I am thinking I drank it to so and to fast after the egg. The first time it happen I was eating peas and the second time it happen I am not even sure why it happen but I thought it was related to my time of the month, now I have no clue. yes I will be talking to my doctor about it again, Ty for your reply
It sounds like what you are describing is food stuck (blocking), the opening of your pouch that leads to your stomach. The band creates that opening and fills tighten the band to make the opening smaller. The idea is to keep a smaller amount of food in your pouch for a longer time so you keep the feeling of fullness.
When certain foods block the opening of your stoma (pouch), and won't go through the opening anything you eat or drink on top of it pushes down and causes the pain you're feeling. You can also get the same pain from over-filling the pouch with too much food.
It's hard to know what's going to work, food wise, for you. I have had that pain from lettuce, eggs, broccoli, spinich, bread, certain meats, etc. You know the drill, it's different for everyone and some days a certain food will work and some days it doesn't.
I've heard of people going to extremes to get things to pass through the stoma opening. Some drink diluted meat tenderizer, some Papaya Enzymes or pineapple juice. I've never done this. Usually I just try to wait it out but often the only relief is to regurgitate the offending food. Usually if I have something stuck I can drink warm liquid and it will help flush the food up and out, NOT down through the opening as you might expect.
That's my take on stuck food and the resulting pain. The only way to avoid it completely is to chew, chew, chew and take smaller bite than you could ever imagine. Even then sometimes the foods itself will not work. When I was first banded everything I tried to eat was an experiment. Test all new foods carefully and you'll learn what you can generally tolerate.
If you are getting stuck regularly and are following the rules for chewing and eating slowly, you may be too tight and need a slight unfill. It's not good to get stuck often. It puts unnecessary pressure on the band and over time could cause complications.
Hang in there, but be careful!
Best~

totally agree with Linda
I do get tighter 2 days before my period and sometimes can only drink on those days - not worth getting an unfill and another fill - just live with it and enjoy the resulting 1/2 lbs weight loss.
when i do get that pain i will regurg sometimes 4-5x times before it clears then it feels so good. just ensure you don't eat again after that because you swollen and tight so it will happen again and a worse pain. It does feel like a heart attack!
I can't tolerate bread, pasta, white rice, celery, crackers, pork, anything with skin (grapes, apples, peas, cucumbers) i need to deskin if i want to eat them.

Is this pain *as* you are eating? If so, perhaps due to getting stuck, and Lisa has some great suggestions. But, if this pain happens a little while after eating, it could be your gall bladder. Gall bladder attacks often occur after eating something that is high in fat. Many, many people have gall stones, and especially those who've been obese.

I just wrote a really good post thinking you just got your band in 2011. Not so.
Here is what I would suggest; Go on fluids for a day if it happens again. You may have things irritated and it needs to calm down. If it continues then see about that small unfill. Don't ever be afraid to do it because of fear that it will cause more hunger or stall weight loss. That is not true. If you have been around a while you know that being too tight can cause a stall as well as slips. I had to get a larger unfill of 2cc the end of Dec. because I let it go on too long, though it was not constant. I had suddenly gotten too tight even though I only had 4.5cc in my band and had felt fine since mid-July. There is just no telling. If you need a slight unfill you only have to wait until things calm down and if you feel like you really need a fill after that you can get one. I have only felt the need for another fill the past couple of weeks, though since we are out of state until mid April I am out of luck. Even at that I don't feel too bad. I can eat more and often need to but then stay satisfied if I eat the things I know will stick with me. I actually like being able to handle some things I couldn't before.
Good luck to you, keep us posted, Sue

I only experience this feeling when I've eaten too much or eaten something too difficult too consume. Does this pain occur with or without eating?
