acid reflux

I have recently gotten over a cold or the flu I don't know which one but I was miserable. So know it seems like I'm having acid reflux every night when I didn't have it before. I finally ent to the emergency room yesterday to find out I have a brochitis flare up and was put on antibiotics. I was just wondering how can you tell if your band has slipped?

Band slips usually make you too tight to eat or drink properly or give you bad acid reflux. Occasionally (rarely), if the slip is the other way, it can move up and be round the oesopahgus and so you go the other extreme and can eat everything as the band is too loose!

But illness can make the band feel tighter (the band is round living tissue which can swell) and many people find anti-bios make them feel tighter as well. Equally, a build up of mucus during the night can cause choking or reflux.

A note of warning - don't know what form the anti-bios are taking but make sure that when you swallow they are actually dissolving below the band. They can be corrosive and if they dissolve slowly above the band can cause severe irritation. That is why liquids are better.

Hope it all feels better soon!

Hope all goes well. As I said, the chances are high the relfux is just because your illness has made you temporarily tighter! Hope so anyway! I always get tight when  have a cold!

I have a good friend who came down with a bad chest cold, and beccause of a chronic cough, her band slipped. So it is possible for your band to have slipped. Call your Dr.!! Her symptoms were the same as yours.

Good Luck!

If you have a lot of post nasal drip that can really mess with your stomach. I'd ride it out until the bronchitis is over and see if you still have a problem. I'll bet you don't.

When I had sinus drainage my band would cause my stomach to close up to the point I could not swallow my own saliva.  My biggest suggestion is to get in lots of liquids.
