Dear Maria,
Thank you for your concern and the link to the article. Although it was interesting I believe it's the person who makes the band work or not. Yes some people just have problems and can't make it work for them, but from my experience and looking into all the alternatives for the past 6 years, I truly think that if you except that the band is only a tool to help you, not a quick fix pill, and you do your part to eat, sleep and exercise properly and make a LIFE CHANGE not a year to year commitment you can reach your goal and keep it. I was due to have a complete bypass done, but upon further study and learning more about food and the fact that I lost more that 70 pounds in the past 4/5 months without any surgery or illness. Just the will to want to live a better life and enjoy it while the Lord allows me to be here was enough incentive. I am getting the band to use as a tool to help me in my journey, I do not believe changing my plumbing would be to my best interest. I plan on living into my 80s and believe the band and arming myself with all the information about the food we eat is right for me. I hope that whatever direction you take with your WLS will help you in your journey to reach your goal.

God Bless
John

Well it CAN be the person that makes the band work. Not always the case though. There are a LOT of bandsters out there that follow all the band rules and have made some serious lifestyle changes...........and have yet to receive any help from the band...............even after severall years! :-(

I realize that you think that the band is the tool that will get you to goal...........but a broke tool will not assist you at all.............and unfortunately that is what a LOT of bandsters have. It's  kind of like trying to fix a plumbing leak with a broken wrench.........it's just NOT gonna happen!

I do however hope that none of these things happen to you and that you are one of the LUCKY ones with the band.

Best of luck with your surgery!

Thank you Debbie,
I believe I've made the right choice. I understand some people are not happy and I know all the different surgeries come with risks and their own set of complications. I'm going to be happy with the weight or without the weight. I am only doing this to better my health for myself and my family... Thanks again

Welcome to our club John! Tuesday is right around the corner. Have you started your pre-op liquids yet. Some docs don't require it, but most do.  Getting nervous?

Congratulations!

Good luck, John.  You're in the right place, certainly.  The support I've received over the last few weeks since my lapband surgery has been tremendous.  We'll be looking for your surgery update next week.  All the best, Karol

Welcome John!! This site has lots of useful info. I have learned so much from some people here. The good thing about it, if you have a concern someone else here has probably had it too, just ask.
