Hi!

Has anyone had any pain months after their surgery or band slippage?  Is this normal? I spoke to my doctor and he orginally said that the band was in perfect position, but the gastro Dr said it slipped.  Eventually, the doctor admitted he placed the band to low and that the port i****ting a nerve.  Solution to the problem was having the port moved over more to the left.  Has anyone had this problem or similiar problems with the band?  Also has anyone had pain with the band or problems?

If the band was placed too low that would make for a bigger pouch.  Are you able to eat more food than you should WITH good restriction?  If so, this isn't going to work.  We all need restriction or it doesn't work.  We are a population that if we can eat, we do eat.

The port and a nerve, when you lose a lot of weight your insides do shift a bit and this can be a cause of port flips and such so if you have lost a good amount of weight that could make sense. It's not something I have heard of but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Wait.... are you referring to the port being too low or the band?  You said band but you are referring to port pain.

Sure, I had a gazillion problems with the band.  It about killed me.  I revised to a sleeve.

Hi
I was referring to the band being to low and the port was a also an issue. I can and do eat a lot.  I had the surgery back in July. I had surgery about a week three weeks ago to have the port moved.  My surgeon didn't admitt to the band slipping or being to low until a week after the surgery. Three other doctors told me the band was to low and slipped, but my surgeon refused to say anythig until I got angry with him and called him on it.

That's horrible.  What is he going to do to make this right?

I had awful pain in my shoulder spreadng to my neck and back.  i thought it was stress related.  it was not.  my band had eroded into my stomach.  it had to be immediately removed (12/10).  bad news, i have no band.  the good news, i lost 10 pounds post op and have not gained it back!  (it has only been 3 months but it is still a victory for me).  i hope this is not the case for you.  hopefully you can have things fixed and move on.  however, if your experience is the same as mine i can offer hope.  i have not felt this good/healthy/painfree since before i had my band placed in march of 08.  all the pain is gone.  all of the sluggish digestion, heartburn, constipation that i had accepted as part of my life is all gone.  i am using what i learned from my doc (slow eating, small portions, lots of protein, no drinking with meals).  my quality of life has improved exponentially since the removal of my band.  i wish you well.
