2nd fill ??

I have to disagree with this.

While I'm sure there are some that are milking the system for all it's worth.. there are also those who believe in creeping up on a good fill level. IMO it's much better to go slowly and not have to fill/unfill/fill/unfill.

A slow approach also allows the bandster to learn how to eat with the band at a more reasonable rate.

My first fill was 1cc and all the rest have been much smaller (.5, .3, .2 etc.) and I've done quite well.  Only needing 1 unfill in 2 years time.

It took a year of fills for me to get to where there were foods that I had difficulty eating.  I still lost weight during that year because I followed my doc's recommendations for eating.  I didn't feel much different than before banding, but my appetite was decreased.  I thought (and still think) that was how the band is supposed to work..decrease the appetite so that we can be in more control.  Doesn't mean I still don't fight the desire to eat (head hunger).. and some days are way better than others about this.

I like my doctor's approach to banding and adjustments, but what's a good fit for me won't necessarily be a good fit for everyone.

My second fill definitely felt tighter. So far, I've been able to eat much smaller meals.

The other day, I ate a small bite of a school lunch pizza (i'm a teacher) and then another bite...
The food would not go down, so I threw some chocolate milk on top of it....

Oh the PAIN!!!!  I had to quickly go into the bathroom, and up came the milk,

sorry for the grossness but it was my first "mini-dump"

all in all, I'm doing ok....

get my 3rd fill in 2 weeks.....

I dont understand if you are tighter, can eat much smaller meals, and you threw up eating something why would you go and get another fill ?

Gosh if I was doing all that there is no way my doc would even consider giving me a fill !!.

I can only get a fill on a Monday, when I'm off from school......
I had to use all my sick and personal days for the surgery,
therefore my next fill will be at the end of April....

I'm sure he will only give me 1 more cc~ i'm at 8 cc's and my band holds 9 to 10.....

by the 21st, I'm sure it will be looser, if not I may consider just cancelling and waiting for the end of April...

the reason I had that dump reaction was due to the dryness of the pizza.....i was wrong to eat it and then to add fluid on top of it....band rules are not to drink at the same time....i just thought if I added fluid it would push the food thru the band...boy was I wrong...

thanks for your comments!!

Suzanne,

understand completely .  I ate a piece of homemade beef jerky and it was to spicey and I took a big swig of water and up it all came also it was painful . It was a lesson learned lol.  I learned that 2 months after surgery and havent had a problem like that since then lol.

I go back on the 28th of this month to see where I stand on a fill or not .

Hi I am going for a 2nd fill in a few weeks. First fill was 5 cc's in a 10 cc band & i've felt really no restriction at all...where are you at currently in the amt of cc's in your band?
