I drink alcohol. But i am always aware that they are empty calories and I am personally in no danger of transfer addiction (well, not to alcohol - clothes spending, maybe!). If anyone drinks to excess, they risk slowing weight loss and they also risk it running out of control - they take control of eating but transfer their former addiction to alcohol.

You drink fluids with meals at your own risk! There are two reasons not to - firstly it can speed the process of food through the upper stomach and so take away the feeling of satiety and secondly, if the pouch is full, then the liquid (which we drink faster than we eat) lands on top of already eaten food and has nowhere to go and so just comes back up!

By trial and error, i have found that i can drink 20 mins post-meal wihtou any ill effects - but we all differ.

If i go out for a social occasion, I do often drink wine. But I take tiny sips throughout the meal and I know i will be able to eat much more than I should!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Alcohol=empty calories. If you can deal with that. A glass of wine or 2 wont kill ya, but I would stay from the high calorie drinks. when you lose weight your tolerance levels will go down.
