working out & extreme dizziness... anyone else?

My last 2 sessions with my personal trainer have been kinda rough. I have gotten EXTREMELY dizzy and had to sit down so I wouldn't pass out on the floor.

He didn't work me out THAT hard.

I have worked myself out much harder in the past and have NEVER felt this way before. The nurse at my Dr's office thought it was the way I was taking my Metformin... so I adjusted how I am taking the dosage... but I had the same problem yesterday.

My trainer thinks I am not eating enough calories... but I am eating between 1000-1200 a day.

Anyone else have a dizziness issue when working out? Were you able to resolve it?

Your PT is right. Eat more or cut back on the exercise. I've slowly  been upping my calories as I've been burning out, feeling dizzy, etc. I'm at 1300 now; 1400 next week. Scary but I workout for 1.5 hours+ so guess it's a must do.

Try eating 100 cals more.

i would suggest that you make sure you are getting enough fluids.  I would start drinking before you start working out and drink during your work out and after.  If the dizziness keeps persisting you might need a carb boost.  Just make it a healthy carb.  Like apple slices or whole crackers.  Eat this before your work out.  Not a lot just a couple of slices.  If that still doesn't help I would talk to your doctor to find out if it's safe for you to continue or if you should slow down.

I did have a problem with feeling a bit dizzy and weak in the middle of my workout.  I start eating 3 apple slices and drinking a nice big cup of water about 30 minutes before my work out helped me.  I actually got this suggestion on the exercise board here on OH.  Try asking there too.

I have been getting dizzy but not during workouts. I went to the dr and they did  blood work and found out my potassium was low. So I googled it and found out that when you work out hard and sweat a lot you need more potassium and when you need more one of the side effects is dizziness.
It could be the result of many things I would get it checked out.

I will try drinking more water and eating an apple tomorrow morning and see if that helps. Thanks. If not I guess I will have to check with the Dr next week.

If you are doing lots of training, you may need more than 1200 cals a day. Are you getting enough protein? Enough fluid?

And have you had your bp checked? If you take tabs for high bp, it may be that you now need less than you did before weight loss.

But when in doubt - ask your doc!

Could be lots of things: low blood sugar, not enough water, low blood pressure (are you on bp meds that might need to be adjusted due to weight loss?), or other reasons.  Here's an article you might want to look at:

Don't let this get you off track, just keep looking for a solution!

make sure you are well hydrated!  Also check with your nutritionist as heavy  work outs require good nutrition.  Also this is a great post for the exercise and fitness board.  good luck!
