weak and dizzy
It has been 2 weeks since my surgery and I've lost 27 lbs which is great but I'm very weak. I'm having trouble eating much at all and it seems like I'm abit afraid to eat. I seem to only want to stick to liquids and a little bit of tuna. I'm so afraid of becoming sick or hurting something I'm afraid to eat. I'm way not drinking enough either I have a 2 year old little girl I'm home alone with so If I pass out it would be really bad. Anyone have any advice. My surgeon told me to eat and add more things. I just can't get over the fear.

I was on liquids for 4 weeks nothing solid at all for about 6.5 weeks after my first fill. I literally sipped protein shakes and protein drinks all day long! As long as I kept my protein up I felt pretty good. Make sure your doing that. If you still feel weak and dizzy then call and talk to your surgeon. Good luck Lori
If you get dizzy going from a sitting to a standing position, you may be slightly dehydrated. Make sure you are drinking lots of water. Depending on your Dr recommendations you may be able to start to eat thinned soup. If you follow your Dr's rules you'll be OK. You do not want to pass out, (I had this happen to me in a grocery store, I was dehydrated). Do not be afraid to eat, you need nutrients to survive. Make sure and drink your protein shakes, if allowed. Good luck and give Dr office a call for their recommendations. OH has this info.

I understand the fear. I was afraid of my band too.
You need to make sure you are sipping all day so you get your fluids in. I had a hard time with weakness until I started eating pureed and soft foods. I began with homemade chili and pureed it in my magic bullet. A tiny dollop of fat free sour cream to make it creamy. Also eggs helped me so much. I made omelets with sauteed peppers and onions. Just be sure to take a tiny bite and see how it goes down. I had a couple of incidents where a food didn't hit right.
If you are afraid because you think you will hurt your band don't be, you probably don't have much if any fill and are wide open. Until you get a few fills and some restriction you won't get sick. Even when you start solids if you chew well and eat slowly you shouldn't have alot of trouble with getting sick. Most of us don't have a problem getting sick unless we get a little careless in eating so don't be afraid, you have to eat something. Also your weakness can very easily be from dehydration so get those fluids in.
You have a Realize band and they are not filled at surgery, so you are pretty much wide open with little or no restriction. You should be drinking water and eating purees or whatever your food program calls for. If you can eat tuna, you are fine. If you are getting liquids in, make sure they are nutritious and not sugary empty calories (that can make you feel weak). Make a protein shake, drink some water and tomorrow make some runny cream of wheat or oatmeal diluted with milk...there is nothing to be afraid of. Two weeks after my surgery I went to my granddaughter's hs graduation and party and ate pretty normally and had a great time...you will be doing that soon to. Just remember to take small bites, eat only one half cup of food at a time and stay hydrated...you will be fine. Perhaps you need to meet with your nutritionist to review your post op dietary instructions to be sure you are on track???

Do you have high blood pressure? If you do, it's possible that you might need an adjustment to your medications. About 10 days after my surgery I got very weak and dizzy. I could barely hold my head up. DD, who is an EMT, checked my blood pressure and it was really low. Wecalled the doctor and he cut my meds in half and within another week they were gone. I was amazed because I didn't think I'd lost enough to make a difference, but I think by following the eating plan it helped. Cutting the sodium made a huge difference.

Just what I was about to suggest. Check out your medications and drink plenty of liquids and get your protein in from liquids.
I had been taking 80 mg of prescription potassium and two other BP medications. Since I check my BP daily, right away I found I needed less of the medication. Now I am on only 5mg of Benicar and my blood pressure is perfect. In fact, I am thinking I will be able to drop that,
If your hemoglobin or your blood pressure are too low, you can feel dizzy. So, check with your regular doctor, get labs and make sure you are okay in that way.
One other thing, I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners. They make me dizzy and nauseaous and sometimes a bad haeadache. I use Sogar Whey to Go chocolate protein. It has some sugar, but not much and I feel good.
