My dr suggested I go on a liquid diet for one week then come see him. He said this will help rid me of sugar cravings and overeating, anybody else try this. I haven't lost weight in a little over 6 months and only have about 15 to go.

It seems rather odd that a band speciailist should recommend a liquid diet - when the band only works with solids! Going carb-free for a few days i could understand but not going liquid!

But he is the doctor, I'm not!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Why a liquid diet?  The way to deal with sugar cravings is to stop eating sugar.  ;o)  With white carbs the more you eat the more you want.  When you stop eating them you'll be climbing the walls for a few days and cravings will be out of control.  But it does pass.

There is little value in a low carb liquid diet over a low carb solid food diet.  (Think Atkins induction)

The weird thing is the only carbs I so eat are in the cobani tougher and the little bit of granola and the occasional piece of hard candy. I'm at a total loss if I should even do it.

Have you had your Vit D tested lately?  Probably 95% of the US population is low in Vit D and probably 100% of obese folks are low in Vit D.  One of the big symptoms of low Vit D is a craving for sweets.

I'd like to ask him if he's done a week of liquids.  The fluid goes right on through, so I wouldn't want to do that.  Maybe you are at the weight your body wants to be at?  I'm starting to wonder that about where I'm at.

Maybe he's just trying to help me since I keep complaining about not losing.  My band is 8.5 in 10 and I'm very hesitant to put more.  Maybe I just need to be happy where I'm at.
