Hi, I have an appointment tomorrow evening at 5 and possibly will get my first fill (although I am not positive)  I would like to know if I should eat as normal tomorrow or if I should fast.

Is there anything else I should be prepared for?

Thanks so much!

I have always been told to eat normally before the fill. It is after that is most important. Be sure to follow your surgeons instructions to a tee. I hate returning to the dreaded liquid then soft diet but it is truly important so I do it anyway. Good luck tomorrow, Sue

Call your surgeon's office and ask what their protocol is.

Neither of my surgeons have put any restriction on eating or drinking before a fill, but I try not to eat anything an hour before my appointment. After the fill, I have to do 24 hours of liquids, 24 hours of purees, then soft food, then solid food.

My doctor says eat normally up to 4 hours before a fill, liquids up to an hour before and liquids for 2 days following the fill.

Since my first fill was done with a floroscope I was told to not eat anything that morning.
Then it was 2 days on liquids.  Uggg  Hated doing THAT again!!!  I made it thru the second day and ate a soft dinner on the second night.   My bad!

As Jean stated, call your surgeons office. Mine recommends nothing to EAT up to 3-4 hrs prior to the fill. But your physician may be different.

Good Luck on your appointment and possible fill.

I agree to call your Dr's office to see what they want you to do.  Mine says no heavy meal right before a fill.

What a great question.  I should have asked this before my first fill.  I ate a rather large meal right before my fill and had a hard time drinking the water that was supposed to gauge how tight my band was during the fill.  Other than that nothing special to prepare for, it was pretty easy and painless.

Good luck
